Document the Height of Pediatric Patients

You can document the height of a pediatric patient in the US or Metric designations. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open a patient's record, and then open an encounter. On Top Toolbar, select Templates . The Select Template window opens. Open the Intake template. In the Vital Signs panel, select Add. The Pediatric [Age] Vital Signs template opens. In the Height/length measurements section, select Height, and then do one of the following: For a pediatric patient younger than two years, enter the height in the ft or in field within the 0 – 5.66 ft, 0 – 11.99 in, or 0 – 172.52 cm range, respectively. Enter a value in the total in field within the 0 – 67.92 in range. For a pediatric patient older than two years, enter the height in the ft, in or cm fields within the 0 – 11.99 ft, 10.16 – 406.4 in, or 0 – 9.99 cm range, respectively. Document the Pediatric Patient's Historical Vital Signs

You can document the historical vital signs of a pediatric patient. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open a patient's record, and then open an encounter. On Top Toolbar, select Templates . The Select Template window opens. Open the Intake template. Document the patient's recorded historical vital signs. In Weight measurement, document the patient's weight in the lb and kg fields within the 4.409 – 1543.3 lb or 2.00 – 699.99 kg range. Note: A message appears if the value entered is not within the range. In Blood Pressure and pulse, document the patient's Systolic and Diastolic readings within the 0 – 399 range, and then document the patient's pulse rate within the 10 – 499 range. Note: A message appears if the value entered is not within the range. Click Measured date, and then select the corresponding historical date. Generating Pediatric Growth Charts

NextGen® Enterprise EHR enables you to generate age-based growth charts. Percentiles on a growth chart are used to compare a pediatric patient to other children of the same gender and age. The percentiles are shown as lines drawn in curved patterns. In addition to standard growth charts, specialized growth charts are available for Turner syndrome, Down syndrome, and premature patients. You can generate growth charts from NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine or NextGen® Enterprise EHR custom templates. You can also select a growth chart type from the NextGen® Enterprise EHR File menu for a specific NextGen® Enterprise EHR custom or NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine template. After you generate a growth chart, you can adjust the plot, customize the display, and save and print the graph. To begin using growth charts, you must have a patient open in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Generate Growth Charts on the Vital Signs Template

You can select the Growth Chart link on the Pediatric Vital Signs template to view a set of up to four growth charts at a time in a single window. The set may include growth charts for height, weight, head circumference, and BMI. Growth Chart Generation from the NextGen® Enterprise EHR File Menu

You can generate the following growth charts for a pediatric patient from the NextGen® Enterprise EHR File menu for either NextGen® Enterprise EHR custom templates or NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine templates. You do not need to open the template. Age vs. BMI Age vs. Height Age vs. Weight Age vs. Head Circumference Weight for Length Each growth chart shows the percentile where the patient's measurement falls in relation to pediatric peers, represented by a red dot. Growth Chart Generation from NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine

NextGen® Enterprise EHR enables you to record a pediatric patient's body measurements and graph growth charts from them using NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine pediatric templates. The growth chart uses template data from all of the patient's encounters. You can generate a selected type of growth chart from the Record Vital Signs template or a set of up to four growth charts at a time from the Pediatric Vital Signs template. The growth chart graphs are based on the type and age of the patient and the measurements provided. You can also generate growth charts from a NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine template by using File menu commands in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. You can graph BMI, height, weight, head circumference, and weight versus length.
