Medications Panel on the ASC - Intake Template

The patient's medication details documented on the ASC -Scheduling Questions template or ASC - Pre admission template appear in the Medications panel of the ASC - Intake template. For information on the Medications module documentation, see Medications Module. The intake staff reviews and makes the necessary changes to the patient's medication details as appropriate on the ASC - Intake template. You can view the patient's active medications and the medications prescribed, modfied, and renewed during the selected encounter in the Medications panel. You can enter additional prescriptions for the patient, and reconcile the medications listed with what medications the patient is actually consuming and how the patient is consuming them. The No medications this encounter check box selection is encounter-based. If you select the No medications this encounter check box for a previous encounter and prescribe medication in a current encounter by selecting the Prescribed Elsewhere check box, then

Viewing Patient Medications

You can view the patient's medications in the Medications panel on the Intake template. You can view the patient's active medications and the medications prescribed, modified, and renewed during the encounter in the Medications panel. You can prescribe additional medications, and reconcile them with the medications the patient is consuming. The No medications this encounter check box is encounter-based. If you select the No medications this encounter check box on a previous encounter and then select the Prescribed Elsewhere check box to prescribe medications in the current encounter, the No medications this encounter check box for the previous encounter remains selected. Medications

You can document and manage the medication history and current medications of a patient. You can use the Medications panel to view the patient's current medications and medication history, enter additional prescriptions for the patient, and reconcile the medications listed with the actual active medications for the patient. You can use the No medications this encounter check box if there are no active medications for the patient. Medications Panel You can reconcile the medications for the patient using the Medications reconciled check box, and indicate that you have received the summary of care for the patient using the Summary of care received check box. Document the Patient's Medications

Click Add/Update below the Medications grid to document the patient's current medications. The Medication module opens. Click Prescribe New. The Medication Search template opens. Search and select a medicine from the list, and then click Select. Enter the Sig, Quantity, Refills, and Start date from the corresponding list. Select the Prescribed elsewhere check box, if applicable. Click Accept and close the Medication module. Note: If applicable, click the Comment link to launch the Medication Comment template. Do not use this template to list medications that the patient is taking. You can use the template as a temporary location to list all the unknown medications that the patient is taking. Provider Medication Review and Update

Providers can review and update the patient's list of medications on the Medications panel. If the patient is not currently taking any medications, select the No medications this encounter check box. To filter the medications displayed in the Medications grid, select one of the following options. All - displays all active medications for the patient Ocular - displays only active ocular medications Systemic - displays only active systemic medications Select the Include inactive check box to display both active and inactive medications for the patient. Click the Add/Update button to add or update medication information. Click the Reconcile button to launch the Medication Review template to perform a review or reconciliation of the patient's medications. To indicate patient status, such as when performing a medication review or reconciliation, select the appropriate check boxes.
