Place Orders for Guideline Items

You can process the order placed for the care guidelines of the patient. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select the Care Guidelines link on any of the main template. The Care Guidelines Paged View template opens. In the Care Guidelines panel, select the Grid View link. The Care Guidelines grid view template opens. Select a guideline item in the grid. Details for the guideline appears in the fields. You can order items with status due, such as labs and diagnostic studies. Select Order. The item's Status displays ordered. For records that previously display the status due, such as labs and diagnostics, the Action field displays the date ordered. Care Guidelines Note: Orders placed for labs and radiology diagnostic studies are processed and submitted to the Order module using the Process and Submit Lab/Radiology Orders template. Working with Orderable Guideline Items

You can order an guideline item for a patient using the Care Guidelines panel. Orderable guideline items have a check box used for placing orders. Encounter workflow for orderable items, includes: Reviewing the next due date Reviewing the last completed date Updating the status Placing orders for any tests/exams that are due Update Status or Compliance of an Orderable Item You can update the status of an orderable item using the Care Guidelines panel. Place an Order for Lab or Diagnosis in the Care Guidelines Template

Review the guideline items in the Care Guidelines panel at each encounter. Items with status due are the items that can be ordered, such as labs and diagnostic studies. Highlight a guideline item to be ordered in the grid. Details for the guideline populate in the respective fields above the grid. Click the Order button. The item's status is updated to display ordered and the Action field display the date ordered. If you have recommended care items in the grid, select a recommended care in the grid. Do any of the following: In the Goal field, type a goal for the patient. Click the blue down-arrow and select a goal from the list. Click the Status field and select the status of the recommended care. Click the Action field and select the action performed for the recommended care. After placing orders for labs and radiology diagnostic studies, it is important to process the orders by selecting which lab or radiology facility will perform each test and submit the orders to the Orders Module

Managing Today's Orders

You can process lab or radiology orders documented by the provider on the My Plan template. You can add and edit an order in the Today's Orders panel. To place any follow-up order, you can use the Follow Up button. Several types of orders are available in the Today's Orders panel. The numbers next to the order types indicate the number of items in the queue for that type of order. In the beginning, you must select the order type, and then you need to select Add or Edit to open the respective order template to add or update the details. To place an order from the Orders Console template, you must select the Enable Order Module check box in the Orders/Plans section on the Practice Configuration template. Managing Today's Orders

Place Orders with My Plan

On the My Plan template, highlight an assessment in the upper left of the template in the Today's Assessments grid. Select the check boxes corresponding to items to be ordered. To select an order item not displayed: Click the down-arrow of an available field in the appropriate order type section to open a list of all items available in the system for that order type. Locate the item you want to order in the list, highlight it and click OK. The selected item appears in the field. Select the check box corresponding to the item to order it. Click Place Order.When you place orders for labs and radiology diagnostic studies, you or someone from your office must process and submit them to the Order module. Click the Lab/Diagnostics/Radiology Order Module Processing link found in the lower right corner of the template to launch the Process and Submit Lab/Radiology Orders template.
