Oph Setup - Oph Dx Tests Setup Fields

Each of the diagnostic tests configured in the Ophthalmology diagnostic tests data set has specific information to be setup.

Field Name

Description

Test typeThe Test type field is used to display and edit the test description. The selection made from the Procedure opened from the Billing/Test code field appears in this field automatically. Clicking this field opens the Procedures template. The description can be edited as needed.
Billing/Test codeThe Billing/Test code contains the procedure code for the test. Clicking this field opens the Procedures template. This field can be edited as needed.
Order module codeThe Order module code must be set up in File Maintenance before the 'send to module' feature will send the test to the Order module. For details about configuring Order module codes in File Maintenance, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest File Maintenance Master Files Guide for NextGen® Enterprise.
CategoryThe category value is used to open matching panels on the Interpretation templates. The list of values is managed on the Custom Dbpicklist system template using the oph_dx_setup_category DB picklist. The oph_dx_setup_category custom DB picklist allows you to add new values but not change the list packaged with the system.

For more information about custom DB picklists, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Custom DB Picklists System Template for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine.

Billing typeThe Billing type field indicates if the test is billed bilateral, unilateral or not billable.

If the test is unilateral and both eyes are tested, then two billing line items are generated in the Procedures and Tests grid on the Finalize – OPH template.

If the test is bilateral, then only one line item is generated if both eyes are tested.

If not billable is selected, the test will not be billed.

Vendor and IDThe Vendor and ID fields are used to assign a preferred vendor and the vendor's identification code to the test.

These fields are required when the Send to module check box is selected.

Send to moduleThe Send to module check box sends the order to the Order module. This allows images to be attached to the order.

To be able to send orders to the module, the tests will have to be set up in the Order tests folder in File Maintenance. The tests should be mapped to the correct vendor, compendium code, and procedure code.

The tests with Send to module selected must have test codes that are in the NextGen Compendium. Otherwise the orders will not be sent to the Order module.

Computerized provider order entryThe Computerized provider order entry check box indicates if the order is to be counted for the CPOE Quality Reporting measure.
Special modifierThe Special modifier is used for A-scan and IOL master. It determines the use and positioning of the 26 modifier. The TC modifier is billed bilateral and the 26 modifier is billed unilateral.
Use TC and 26 ModifiersIn some billing workflows it may make sense to use TC (Technical component) and 26 (Professional Component) modifiers. When this option is selected, the order generates a billing line item with a TC modifier when the order is in obtained status at the time of billing and another line item when the order is in completed status with a 26 modifier. These could occur in separate encounters or in the same encounter. If the technical and professional components are performed in the same encounter, the coding will default to the global coding.
EditThe Edit field is set internally on the Ophthalmic Diagnostic Tests Setup template.

The records packaged with the system have a value of NG. Users can change values for all of the fields except the Category and Edit fields, and they are not allowed to remove the row.

Records that are added have an edit value of U and allow users to change values for all of the fields except the Edit field.

Hide on test ordering popupWhen the Hide on test ordering popup check box is selected, the item will not appear on the Orders Tests – OPH template.
