Cardiology Checkout Staff Workflow

After completing the intake staff and provider workflow, the front office staff initiates and completes the patient checkout process on the Checkout template. The Checkout template contains the following sections. Today's Orders Lists all orders that have been placed on the current day. Given to Patient/Verified Displays items verified or given to patients. Patient Education Displays the education documents to be issued to patients. Edit Orders You can view, verify, and process orders that have been placed for a patient. Process Lab Orders You can process Lab orders on the Checkout template. Create Requisition for Orders You can create a requisition document for a selected order type on the Checkout template. Create Patient Plan Summary Documents You can create a patient plan summary on the Checkout template. The Patient Education grid in the Today's Orders panel displays the patient education documents that are added to a patient encounter. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Checkout template. Expand the Today’s Orders panel. Select Patient Education To edit patient education documents, select Patient Education. The Patient Education Browser window opens. Note: You can use the browser to add or edit the list of patient education documents. Create Patient Plan Summary Documents

You can create a patient plan summary on the Checkout template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Checkout template. Click Given to Patient/Verified panel. Update the Patient Checkout Status

After you complete a patient's checkout process, you can update the status on the Todays Patient Tracking template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select a patient record. On the Patient Information Card, select the Patient Tracking button. Note: Patient Tracking is available only when the patient has an active encounter dated Today. For all other encounters, the Patient Tracking button appears as New Encounter. The Todays Patient Tracking template opens with the status and location of the patient during the encounter. Issuing Patient Education Documents

The Patient Education panel contains the education documents of a patient that are added to the patient's chart. You can print education documents for a patient by printing them or send the documents to the patient's NextGen® PxP Portal account. When you save a patient education document to an encounter, NextGen® Enterprise EHR moves the document to the Patient Education grid in the Today’s Order panel.
