The dynamic HPI template for the Gastroenterology specialty has both generic and distinct parameters available for documentation. Generic parameters are common to all reasons for visit and distinct parameters are specific to the reason. A combination of these parameters provide for complete documentation of the patient's reason for visiting the office on the current encounter.
The following table defines the generic parameters that appear for all of the dynamic, Gastroenterology conditions.
Parameter | Description |

Intro | Includes the introduction and the purpose of the patient visit. You can select either initial visit or follow up visit type for the chief complaint. |
Status* | Includes a list of options to indicate the status of the chief complaint. |
Onset* | Includes a list of onset options to indicate when the symptom began. You can click the Onset option to enter the exact onset of the symptom or chief complaint. |
Severity* | Includes a list of options to indicate the severity of the chief complaint. |
Pertinent History* | Includes a list of pertinent diseases and disorders to indicate the patient's health condition. |
Pertinent Positive/Negatives* | Includes a list of positive and negative symptoms associated with the chief complaint. You can select the pertinent positives and/or negatives found related to the chief complain |
Prior Studies | Includes a list of study types performed on the patient. You can select a study type and then select any prior tests or procedures taken by the patient. |
