The dynamic HPI templates for the Pediatrics subspecialties have both generic and distinct sections available for documentation. Generic sections are common to all reasons for visit and distinct sections are specific to each reason. A combination of these sections allow for the complete documentation of the patient's reason for visit on the current encounter. The following table defines the generic sections that appear for all Pediatric subspecialties. Note: An asterisk (*) indicates that the section includes a free text an entry option to enter the appropriate data if the desired option is not available. Parameter Description Intro Includes the introduction and the purpose of the patient visit. You can select either initial visit or follow up visit type for the chief complaint. Onset Includes options to select the onset date or period, and the age of onset of the chief complaint. Status Includes a list of options to indicate the status of the chief complaint. In the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine templates, the following types of History of Present Illness (HPI) templates are used to document a patient's reason for visiting the office: Static HPI - displays hard-coded content that is not easily customizable; a single template is available for each complaint with options for selecting pre-determined details: the final concatenation is available when you close the template Dynamic HPI - enables you to add, edit, update, and delete dynamic content for the HPI and concatenates the content on the template as items are selected or edited; NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine is packaged with pre-configured dynamic HPI templates for the Gastroenterology, Physical Therapy, Orthopedics, Urology, and Pediatrics Well Child; the specific details about these existing HPI elements are provided in the Specialty Specific Dynamic HPI Elements section of this user guide. Each dynamic HPI template has a list of sections (for example, family history, lab data, and diagnostic data) with associated findings that you can configure in the Dynamic HPI Config practice template. There are several sections that are common to all of the Orthopedic-related dynamic HPI templates. Note: An asterisk (*) indicates that the section includes a freetext entry option to enter the appropriate data if the desired information is not available. Parameter Description intro Includes the 'name, age and gender and/or the complains of' text as an introduction for the symptom in the concatenated text symptom* The lateral view is used to document the patient's symptoms (for example, pain, swelling, weakness, and so on.). Multiple values can be selected. On the *Configuration Home system template, click Manage Template Links in the Configuration Navigation pane. On the Manage Custom Links template, click Link to and select Chief complaint to HPI pop up to launch from the list. Note: If you select the Show all custom links in the Link to field, all the filters are cleared. Enter the reason that you have created in the Chief Complaint field. Click the Popup to field. Select the hpi_dyn_right_left_unilat option to create a dynamic HPI and then click OK. Select the Gender field and select a gender to which the custom link is applicable. Click the Age field and select from the all, adult, or peds options to designate which age group the custom link is applicable to. Click the Specialty field to select the applicable specialty, and then click OK. Note: It is recommended that a single entry be created for an HPI and tied to a specialty. For example, the GI bleeding HPI is only made available for the Gastroenterology specialty and not in the O
