Document the Epistaxis Procedure

An epistaxis procedure is the control of anterior nosebleed simple or complex, and/or posterior nosebleed initial or subsequent. When you document an epistaxis procedure, the application can include the appropriate CPT codes for billing based on the procedure and the usage of scope. Access the Epistaxis/Turbinate Reduction template. In the Pre-Procedure Care section, select the pre-procedure actions that you have completed. In the Type of Procedure section, select an anterior and/or a posterior procedure you have performed, and then select the location of the bleed from the resulting list. Note: Based on the procedure and usage selected, the application fills the CPT codes and modifiers automatically. Click the Status field and then select a status. Click the Location of the bleed field and then select a location. Select a bleeding Side such as RT for right; LT for left; and BIL for bilateral, and then select a treatment technique Cautery, Simply packing, or Anterior/posterior packing.

Epistaxis and Turbinate Reduction Procedures

The Epistaxis/Turbinate Reduction template enables you to document the procedures performed to treat epistaxis and turbinate reduction. The Type of Procedure (Epistaxis) and Turbinate Reduction are the two main sections that you can use independently, if only one of them is performed, or together, if both are performed. While the Otolaryngologists can use both the sections of this template, the Family Physician, Urgent Care Provider, and/or Pediatrician can use the epistaxis section when a simple control of bleeding is performed. Based on the procedure performed and the usage of scope, the application can include the correct Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) code for submitting to superbill. For example, when you select the ‘Control of anterior nosebleed, simple’ procedure and the ‘In conjunction with control’ usage, the application includes 31238 CPT code for billing, by default. Document Turbinate Reduction

You can document the turbinate reducation procedure. Access the Epistaxis/Turbinate Reduction template. Select Despite these measures bleeding could not be controlled. Click the Diagnosis 1 field, select a diagnosis from the resulting diagnosis search window, and then click Select. View Run-Time Result of Mapping HCPCS Codes to Nebulization Solution

In the run-time Intake template, click the Procedures sub-navigation link, and then select the Nebulizer Treatment link from the Others section. The Nebulizer Treatment - Procedure template opens. In the Treatment section, document relevant details. Click Nebulizer. The data configured in the Data Sets Setup template appears in the Get Nebulizer Data list. Select a nebulizer record, and then click Save. The selected data is displayed in the Treatment section. Select Submit to Superbill, and then click Save & Close. The charges are submitted to the Procedure module. Note: The codes are passed for billing only when you select Submit to Superbill. Submit Superbill

You can submit diagnoses and their corresponding procedures codes (CPT codes) to the superbill. Each procedure should have at least one diagnosis. You can submit up to four diagnoses for each procedure. When you add diagnoses and corresponding procedures, the application automatically saves them to superbill. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open an appropriate Cardiology template, for example, Intake-Cardiology, and select an appropriate Visit Type. Do one of the following: From the navigation bar, click Submit Superbill. From the navigational links, click the Submit Superbill link. If the Rendering Physician and Referring Provider details have not been not displayed automatically, select the appropriate details. Click the Description field to search for and add a diagnosis in the Procedure Diagnosis List section. Note: You can add up to four diagnoses for each procedure. Submitting CPT II Codes Automatically

You can select the automating submission method after completing the configuration steps. The CPT II code automatic submission functionality facilitates claim-based quality measure reporting by automatically assigning and submitting CPT II codes. Selected HEDIS measures are mapped to the CPT II code system on the Coded Results Mapping template. Practices can configure additional measures. When the CPT II code automation functionality is enabled, documentation that meets the criteria setup on the Coded Results Mapping template automatically assigns a CPT II code when the template that contains the configured field is saved. You can either send the CPT II code directly to the Superbill without assigning a diagnosis, or you can send it to the Finalize template where a provider assigns the diagnosis before submitting to the Superbill.
