Adverse Childhood Experiences Screening
You can document Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) of patients aged between 0 to 19 years using the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE-Q) template.
You can document the adverse childhood experiences of the patient the following panels on the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE-Q) template:
- Original Ten ACE Questionnaire panel provides questions for all ages.
- Additional Early Life Stressors panel consists of age-specific questions based on the patient's age as of the current encounter date.
- Relevant Symptomatologypanel enables you to indicate any additional associated symptoms for the screening. The symptoms listed in the panel are not shared with other areas of NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
The encounter date appears as the performed date by default. The Reported by Patient check box is available for patients aged 13 years or older. If the patient's age is 12 years or younger, the Reported by Patient check box is not available.
Based on the questions you answer in the Original Ten ACE Quesstionnaire, Additional Early Life Stressors, and Relevant Symptomatology panels, the Interpretation of Results section calculates a score and interpretation.
If the patient's age is 13 years or older and the Reported by Patient check box is selected, the questions that appear display in the Additional Early Life Stressors panel are updated from your child to you.
To select a different interpretation in the list, you can edit the default Interpretation. When you select a different Interpretation, a note appears beside the Interpretation field and on the generated document stating that the interpretation is overridden. To view referral documentation, you can enter additional Comments and select the Referrals link.
You can use Quick Task and Send Task to send tasks to the practice staff on the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE-Q) template. When you send a task, the task subject appears as ACE-Q Follow up or Review by default.
You can create sub_aceq, tis_sub_aceq_13yr_18yr, tis_sub_aceq_under_13yrs, and sub_screening_tools documents to view the details documented on the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE-Q) template.
