Assign Diagnosis Codes to Group

In the Assign Diagnosis Codes to Group section, highlight a diagnosis group in the grid under the Add Diagnosis Group section. To search for ICD-9 or ICD-10 codes: Select the ICD-9 or ICD-10 option. Enter a value in the Description field or Code field and click Search. The diagnosis codes associated with the description matching the search criteria appear in the grid. Select a diagnosis code and click the button to move the selected code to the right grid. To move all the codes to the right grid, click the button. Click Save below the right grid to save the codes to the selected diagnosis group and clear all the fields in the Manage Reference Systems, Diagnosis Groups and Codes section. To remove a diagnosis code from the grid, do one of the following: Select a row and click Remove. To remove all the codes from the right grid, click Remove All. Access the Dx Groups Reference Systems Template

The Dx Groups Reference Systems practice template enables you to create a reference system and add a diagnosis group with the diagnosis codes. A reference system is a grouping of the diagnosis categories that are set up in File Maintenance. The diagnosis groups can be mapped to more than one reference system. From the File menu, click System \ Practice Template. In Select Template, click the Practice tab. In the Show section, click All. A list of practice templates opens. Add Diagnosis Group

On the Dx Groups Reference Systems practice template, navigate to the Manage Reference Systems, Diagnosis Groups and Codes panel, Add Diagnosis Group section. Enter a new diagnosis group name, in Diagnosis Group field. Enter a description of the new diagnosis group in Description field. Select a system to associate with the diagnosis group from Reference System field. The list includes reference systems created in the Manage Reference Systems panel of the Dx Groups Reference Systems practice template. From Age Group, select Adult/All if the diagnosis group is applicable to all patients or Peds if the diagnosis group is applicable only to pediatric patients. If available, enter a URL in the Reference website field or Order set website field. Select Restrict code for code restrictions. This allows only one associated code for this category, only if the category is on the Protocols, Office Diagnostics, or PT Exercise templates. The Manage Reference Systems, Diagnosis Groups and Codes panel enables you to add, edit, and update the reference systems, diagnosis groups, and codes. Add a Reference System

On Dx Groups Reference Systems practice template, in the Dx Groups Reference Systems practice template, navigate to the Manage Reference Systems panel. In Reference system, enter a reference system name, for example, "ASC GI Procedure Documentation Assessments." In Description, enter a description for the new reference system. For example, "The reference system is used for the GI ASC Physician Procedure Documentation template to associate a diagnosis with a procedure." If applicable, select a Reference system set from the list. If the category is Protocols, Office Diagnostics, or PT Exercise, select Restrict code to allow only one associated code for the category. Click Add/Update to save and activate the new reference system. To inactivate the newly created reference system, select the reference system in the grid and click Inactivate. Configuring Systems, Diagnosis Groups, and Codes

The Dx Groups Reference Systems practice template supports ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes for default diagnosis codes in the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine framework. It consolidates diagnosis code functionality to one location and provides consistency in the way templates access diagnosis codes. This requires retiring and modifying templates, the removal of all hard-coded ICD-9 codes from the existing templates and moving the functionality to the practice template. For example, as part of updating Common Assessments for the ICD-10 conversion project, the diagnosis types within the Pediatric framework have been migrated into the Dx Groups Reference Systems practice template. It provides you with a quick and easy access to configure their systems, and makes annual code updates easier. The actual codes are in File Maintenance.
