Map a Specialty and Template with a Custom Visit Type
Before you begin You must add and map a new visit type using the Visit Type Configuration window. For more information, see Add and Map a Custom Visit Type. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, open the Visit Type Configuration window. Select a specialty with which you want to map the custom visit type. Expand the Tabs and Subnavigation panel. In the Tabs section, click Visit Type, and then select a custom visit type from the picklist. To map the templates with the custom visit type, do the following: To map a template to be displayed in the first tab, click the Template list in the Tab 1 column, and then select the required template. For example, select fts_intake. Type the run-time name of the selected template. For example, type Intake. To map another template to be displayed in the second tab, click the Template list in the Tab 2 column, and then select the required template. For example, fts_finalize. Modify a Custom Visit Type

Remove a Custom Visit Type
In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, open the Visit Type Configuration window. Select a custom visit type record from the grid, and then click Remove. The selected custom visit type record is removed from the Visit Type Configuration grid. If you want to remove a custom visit type from the Visit Type list, then you need to remove the configured visit type from the Tabs and Navigation grid on the Framework Content system template. Verify the Custom Visit Type Workflow Using the Run-time Templates
Before you begin You must add a custom visit type using the Visit Type Configuration window and map the specialty and the required templates to display on run-time using the Framework Content system template. For more information, see Add and Map a Custom Visit Type and Map a Specialty and Template with a Custom Visit Type. An existing visit type and the associated E&M code are mapped during the configuration of the custom visit type in the Visit Type Configuration window. After you have configured the custom visit type, you can verify if the E&M code associated with the mapped visit type is used while billing associated with the custom visit type. Also, you can verify if the mapped specialty and custom visit type details are displayed in the Master_im document. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Add and Map a Custom Visit Type
A custom visit type can be added only if you map the same with an existing visit type. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, open the Visit Type Configuration window. Enter a visit type description in New Visit Type Description. Click the Map to EM Visit Type and select an existing visit type from the picklist. The application fills the existing visit type name and the associated E&M billing code in the Additional Info field. Click Add. The new visit type is added to the grid. Click OK. Configure the Framework Template Tabs
You can configure the framework template tabs from the Tabs section. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Framework Content system template. Click the Tabs and Subnavigation panel. In the Tabs section, to select a visit type from the list, and click the Visit Type field. The Visit Type is based on the specialty that you select. The list includes only those visit types for which you have not configured the tabs. If the visit type is not in the list, select the visit type in the grid. Each visit type is configured to a range of Current Procedural Terminology ( CPT® ) codes which are used to calculate the Evaluation and Management (E&M) code on the Finalize template. Note: The Finalize template in Cardiology and Ophthalmology specialties calculates the codes differently, so you cannot add visit types for these specialties through this process.
