Documenting Patient Encounters for the Family Practice Visits

You can document patient encounters for a family practice visit. You can document the Family Practice office and virtual visits on the following templates: Intake Histories SOAP Finalize Checkout Using the Intake and Histories templates, a nurse or medical assistant can document the reasons for visit, medications, allergies, social histories, and so on. Provider uses the SOAP and Finalize templates to document assessment and physical exam details, generate evaluation and management codes, and so on. The front desk employees use the Checkout template to view order details and provide necessary documents to the patient. Before you document a standard visit, you can configure optional settings to quickly open templates and features. Overview of Well Child Visit

You can use the Well Child visit type to document routine checkups for a pediatric patient. Using the Well child visit type, you can document a history of present illness, child development history, anticipatory guidance, and various screening tests. Well child visit type The Well child encounter workflow is similar to the Office Visit workflow, with the exception that the Pediatric SOAP template is available in place of SOAP template. Intake staff begins the visit by selecting Pediatrics or Family Practice for the Specialty and Well child for Visit Type on the Intake template. Intake staff then documents all the necessary details of the visit in the Intake and Histories tabs, and generates Intake Note. Provider reviews the details documented by the medical assistant and selects the Pediatric SOAP tab to proceed with a comprehensive review and documentation of the well child visit. General Information for Well Child Visit

You can enter a patient's general information. The General panel on the Pediatric SOAP template displays whether the patient is new or established. You can view the patient's well child age and review the previous well child visits and documents. General panel In the General panel, you can do the following: View the patient's well child age based on the patient's date of birth in the Well Child Age list, and select a different well child age from the Select different well child visit list, if required. When you select a different well child age in Select different well child visit, the selected age appears in Well Child Age. View the patient's most recent well child encounter in the Previous Well Child Visit field. View the Chart Note or Master document from previous encounters using the Open Selected Well Child Visit button. If the previous encounter selected in Previous Well Child Visit does not have an associated Chart Note or Master document, the Open Selected Well Child Visit butt

Document the Well Child Encounter Dynamically

You can dynamically document the reason for visit of a well child using the Well child HPI in the Reason for Visit panel. If the intake staff selects the Well child HPI reason during the intake process, the Well child HPI reason automatically appears on the Reason for Visit panel. If the intake staff does not select the Well child HPI reason, you can select the Well child HPI reason from the left pane. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Pediatric SOAP template. In the Reason for Visit panel, click Well child HPI.The HPI template opens. HPI Note: By default, the application selects the well child age group in the Reason field based on the patient's date of birth. To change the well child age group, click the list in the Reason field and select a different well child age group.
