The nurse or medical assistant has to document patient's vitals every three or five minutes during a procedure. To allow the nurse to document the vitals and at the same time assist the provider in performing a procedure, the vital signs interface is used. The vital signs interface captures the patient's vital signs from the vital signs monitor or vital signs device throughout the procedure at specific intervals of time. The captured vital signs import from the interface into the grid in the Vital Signs Monitoring panel. In the Vital Signs Monitoring panel, the Interface Vitals button opens the vital signs interface. The Interface Vitals button is available only when you select the Show Interface Vitals checkbox in the Vital Signs section on the Practice Configuration practice template. In the practice template, you must specify the path where the interface application is installed in the Set path field available below the Show Interface Vitals checkbox. For more information of vital signs interface configuration, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the Practice Configuration Template User Guide for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine.
NextGen Healthcare recommends that you document the baseline set of vitals and then use the vital signs interface to continuously upload the vital signs from the vital signs device for a specific time period.
