You can configure the Body Mass Index (BMI) alert preferences for all vital signs in the BMI section.
- Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
- From File, select System \ Practice Template.
The Select Template window opens.
- On the Practice tab, select the All option.
- Select Vital Signs Configuration, and then select OK.
The Vital Signs Configuration practice template opens.
- In the BMI grid, double-click the row that holds the alert to be modified.
The
Adult/Pediatric BMI Alerts template opens.
- Update the lower and upper age limits in the Age From and To fields, respectively.
- Select the BMI Unit field to select either Percentile or Value.
Note: BMI unit is set to Percentile by default and the Percentile From and To fields are available to set those parameters. If you select Value in the BMI Unit field, the system automatically displays the Value From and To fields. If the patient is 20 years or older, only Value can be selected from the BMI Unit field. If you select Percentile from the BMI Unit field for a 20-year-old or above patient, an alert message appears.
- To update the lower and upper limit, do one of the following:
- If you have selected Percentile in the BMI Unit field, then:
- Select the Percentile field to select a value from the BMI Percentile From numeric keypad.
- Select the To field to select a value from the BMI Percentile To numeric keypad.
- If you have selected Value in the BMI Unit field, then:
- Select the Value field to select a value from the BMI Value From numeric keypad.
- Select the To field to select a value from the BMI Value To numeric keypad.
- To update the alert message that displays in run time, modify the alert message in the Alert field.
Note: NextGen Healthcare recommends limiting the alert message to 35 characters.
- To update alert preferences on other rows in the BMI grid, select
at the bottom of the template.
- Select Save, and then select Close.
