Calculate an E&M Code under 2021 Coding Guidelines on the Ophthalmology Finalize Template

To calculate an E&M code under the 2021 Coding Guidelines, you must select the Medical Decision Making (MDM) level or enter time on the EM 2021 Guidelines template that opens from the Ophthalmology Finalize template. To compare E&M codes, you can switch between the calculation methods. However, you cannot combine codes from both methods. The application uses the last calculated code. Open the Ophthalmology Finalize template and expand the EM code panel. Click Calculate code. The EM 2021 Guidelines template opens. EM 2021 Guidelines template To calculate an E&M code on the MDM level for a new or an established patient, do one of the following: Select a complexity level. For information on complexity levels and risks involved in MDM, click the View MDM Guidelines link. Submit E&M Codes under 2021 Coding Guidelines on the Ophthalmology Finalize Template

Before you begin To submit an E&M code, you must have selected a diagnosis. For more information on diagnoses, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Getting Started User Guide for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine.Note: You can override the code from the EM 2021 Guidelines template by selecting another code directly from the Ophthalmology Finalize template. However, this selected code will not fall under the 2021 Coding Guidelines, and the calculated code from the EM 2021 Guidelines template still appears in the Calculated code field. You cannot select eye codes and E&M codes together. If you select an eye code, it overrides the E&M code. Open the Ophthalmology Finalize template and expand the EM Code panel. Enter counseling and educational details and factors. Enter additional visit codes and modifiers. You can add up to two modifiers for a visit code. Time Information in Master, Specialty Im, and Other Documents

Based on your practice configuration for offline generation or the document configuration for a submitted code, the application creates the Master Im or Specialty Master document or another document. If the submitted code is calculated based on the total time, the generated document includes the total time in minutes, which includes face-to-face time and non-face-to-face time spent with the physician and/or other qualified healthcare professionals. Time Information in the Cardiology Master or Other Document

Based on your practice configuration for offline generation or the document configuration for a submitted code, the application creates the Cardiology Master document or another document . If the submitted code is calculated based on the total time, the generated document includes the total time in minutes, which includes face-to-face time and non-face-to-face time spent with the physician and/or other qualified healthcare professionals. Print Chart Note

The Print Chart Note setting is used to automate generating a Chart Note at the end of every encounter when coding is submitted to billing. In Ophthalmology, the Chart Note is the full and complete 'master' document. Selecting the Print the chart note when the submit button is clicked on the coding template check box causes a Chart Note to be generated offline automatically when the Submit Code button on the Coding tab template or the Finalize- OPH template is clicked at the end of every encounter. When the Chart Note is generated offline, no preview screen appears. Note: An offline document generator must be set up before documents can be generated offline. Print Chart Note
