Reviewing Obstetrics Details by Providers

A provider can start the visit by reviewing the patient information documented during the previous patient encounters on the Home Page template for the Obstetrics specialty. The provider reviews the information entered by the intake staff to determine if any additions or changes are required. The information documented by the nursing staff on the Intake template displays on the Home Page template for the provider's review. You can update the information on the Intake and SOAP templates. NextGen Healthcare recommends that providers begin the visit by reviewing the patient details on the Home Page - Obstetrics template. Obstetrics Histories Template

You can document information in the OB Histories template. The Histories template contains nine panels: Pregnancy History Gravidity/Parity Since Last Menstrual Period Medical/Infection History Medical/Surgical/Interim General Family Social Genetic Screening/Teratology Counseling The Histories template displays gravidity/parity, initial/working EDD, working EGA, blood type and Rh, and risk level as in Gestational Age template. After a complete history is taken, use the Risk Factors link to document the risk level. Note: When documenting risk factors, the practice may decide to only indicate the positive items rather than select negative for all of the remaining items. In addition, putting the actual risk level must be done by the provider. This may be done on this template or on the Prenatal Detail template. Review of Orthopedic Details by Intake Staff

The intake staff begins the current encounter on the Intake template. They can review the patient details documented during the previous encounters on the Home Page - ORT template. The Home Page - ORT template displays the information documented by the intake staff on the Intake and Histories templates for the provider's review. Obstetrics Intake Staff Workflow

You can document the intake information in the Intake template. The intake staff workflow for an Initial Prenatal visit involves documenting the patient encounter on the Intake, Gestational Age, Histories, and Education templates. The information documented by the intake staff is reviewed by the provider. When you open the Intake template, select Obstetrics and OB Prenatal Initial from the Specialty and Visit Type fields to display the Initial Prenatal template set. The Intake template includes various links to add more information about the patient. Open Obstetrics Home Page

You can use the Templates module to open the Home Page - Obstetrics template. If you start on the Home Page-Obstetrics template then Obstetrics is automatically selected as the specialty. If you start on the Home Page template, then you have to select Obstetrics as the specialty and a visit type to open the template set associated with the selected parameters. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. To open the Templates module on a patient encounter, do one of the following: On the Categories or Encounter History tab, select Open Template. On Top Toolbar, select Templates. On the main menu, select File > New > Template. The Select Template window opens. Select Medical Records. In the Show section, select All. Obstetrics Patient Header

You can view the Obstetrics fields in the Obstetrics (OB) patient header. You can view the following data in the OB Patient Header: Gravidity, Parity (G/P/T/P/A/L): Filled from the Histories template. Initial/Working EDD: Filled from the Gestational Age template. Working EGA: Filled from the Gestational Age template. Blood Type and Rh: Filled from the Lab Orders template. Risk Level: Filled from the OB Risk Factors template.
