Add a Patient Communication

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Access the Communications panel. Select the appropriate link on the Communication Tool pane on the left to indicate that type of patient contact being recorded: Medication Management Medical Question Test Result Request Referral Request Forms/Records Billing Question Outgoing Call Other The arrow to the left indicates which link is currently selected. The number to the right of the link shows that number of previously entered communications for that type of call. If you select a link, the previously entered communications for that type appear in the grid with the most recent call at that top of the list. Select Add.The appropriate telephone communications template appears. Medication Management In the Call Information section, select the Contact Type field, and select the call type. Enter the applicable details on the remainder of the template. Select Save & Close. Parent topic: Communication Panel

Contact Information

The information displayed for each contact includes: Information Description Date / Time The encounter date and the actual time when the contact was recorded. Employee The individual who was logged in and recorded the contact. Reason The reason stated by the patient or individual who initiated the contact for the contact. Status The status of the contact. A status of Open means that the reason for the call has not been satisfactorily resolved or addressed and that further action is required. A status of Closed means that the reason for the call has been addressed and that no further action is required for this call. Comments Shows any comments entered into the Comments field. The Communication panel of the Care Coordination Home Page enables you to view phone, email and other contacts that were recorded on the Telephone Call template for a patient. Filter Calls

When calls have been logged, you can filter calls by Type, Status and Encounter. You can also organize calls using columns that display in the grid. Access Communication Component Grid. Select the Call Type or Status of the call. These filters can be used separately or together to narrow down your results. Select View All calls logged for the patient or calls logged only during This Encounter. The Communication Component Grid displays calls that match the filter criteria. Select any of the column headers (For example Contact Date, Employee, and so on.) to order the results based on a specific detail. Parent topic: Call Types

Forms/Records Requests

The Forms/Records Requests call type concerns communications that involve requests for forms and records to be sent to a patient. Select the New Call button and select Forms/Records Request from the Call Type list. The Panels and Panel Items opens. Select the Call Information and Contact Information panel items from the panels. Select Request. The Request option appears. Request Select the type of Request, the Date Needed for the requested form or record, and the Delivery method for the request. Select Action(s). The Action(s) option appears. Select the Action(s) associated with the call. You can select more than one. Note: Select Sent letter due to inability to contact generates a document that can be sent to the patient. For more information, see Inability to Contact Letter. Select Call Status and select a status for the call. In the Comments section, enter any comments related to the call or attach a phrase. Select Add. The call is saved and logged on to the Communication Component
