Obtaining Test or Code Information for Codes Submitted to the Procedures Module

You can view the test or code information for codes submitted to Procedures module to satisfy a care guideline. When you want guidelines to update based on the codes submitted to the Procedures module, such as visit CPT® codes or billing codes, it is important to note that not all guidelines are updated from the Procedures module alone, and this functionality can vary depending on the NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine version and guideline. For instance, vaccines can be partially billed, so immunizations are never updated from the Procedures module. Additionally, it may not be appropriate for guidelines to update solely on billed codes as these are typically not sufficient evidence that a particular test is resulted, nor they are as easily canceled or removed if billed in error or are no longer applicable. Obtain Test/Code Information for Vaccines for Individual Patients (Immunizations Module)

You can obtain the test or code information for vaccines for individual patient using the Order module template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. On an encounter for a patient, open the Order module. Select the Immunizations tab. Select the latest date of the immunization for the guideline to map, for example, influenza. Obtain Test or Code Information for a Screening on the Screening Tools Template

You can view the test or code information for screenings documented to satisfy a care guideline by using the Screening Tools template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select a patient encounter, and then open the Intake template. In the navigation bar, select the Screening Tools link.The Screening Tools template opens. Search for the screening tool name, and then enter the exact spelling in the Screening Instrument field. Add Visit Code Modifiers

You can add or replace visit code modifiers. After you have calculated or selected a visit code on the Finalize (BH) template, the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine may add modifiers to the visit code based on coding rules. You can also manually add up to two modifiers for each visit code and edit the modifiers. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. For a patient record, open a new encounter. Open the Finalize (BH) template. Expand the Evaluation and Management Coding panel. To add a modifier to a visit code, select Modifier(s) under the corresponding visit code, and then select a code from the list. Submit E&M Codes under 95 or 97 Coding Guidelines

You can submit a calculated or selected E&M code to the Superbill under the 95 or 97 Coding Guidelines. Before you begin You must select an assessment in the Today’s Assessments panel to submit an E&M code. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. For a patient record, open a new encounter. Open the Finalize template. Expand the Evaluation and Management Coding panel. Evaluation and Management Coding To use a calculated E&M code, you can select the MDM level, or enter the total visit time. Enter any additional visit codes. To meet visit code criteria for Quality Reporting, select a SNOMED® CT code. To override the calculated code, select an E&M code in the code options section at the end of the Evaluation and Management Coding panel. Note: The 99201 code cannot be selected as the code has expired on January 1, 2021.
