Modifying Individual Guideline Items

You can modify the individual guideline item ordered for a patient. Orderable care guideline items can be modified at the patient level to change the time interval, start age, and stop age without impacting the standard care guideline for other patients. If you make any changes to the standard guideline item for a patient, an application message indicates that a change is made and what is the change of guidelines items in the Care Guidelines panel. Create a Personalized Orderable Item

You can create a personalized orderable guideline item for a patient. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select the Care Guidelines link on any of the main template. The Care Guidelines Paged View template opens. Expand the Care Guidelines panel and select the Add Orderable link. The Personalized Reminder/Orderables template opens. In the Guideline field, select a test from a DB picklist of orderable guideline tests that are associated with a guideline on the Care Guidelines Setup practice template. Personalized Reminder/Orderable Note: If the tests are not displayed in this list, you can set up a generic guideline condition or reason on the Care Guidelines Setup practice template as a place holder, to which you can associate the additional tests you want to see in this list. You must not activate or apply this generic test holder guideline to a patient, but it allows the tests associated with it to be included in this list. Information Displayed in the Care Guidelines Panel

You can view and edit the information displayed in the Care Guidelines panel. NextGen Healthcare recommends you to be familiar with the Care Guidelines panel on the Care Guidelines Paged View template for ease of use. Care Guidelines Paged View Active guidelines listed in the patient guidelines section: Patient's Guidelines section in the left pane lists all care guidelines that are currently being followed for the patient. Also called active guidelines. Badges next to each active guideline display the number of items for that guideline that are due. An item can belong to more than one care guideline. For guideline items listed in the panel: Orderable items have a checkbox. You must select the checkbox to place an order for the item. The Place Order button remains disabled until you select a checkbox. Care Guidelines Paged View Recommended Care items do not have a checkbox. Instead, they have Goals. Set Up an Orderable Guideline Test Item

You can set up an orderable guideline test item on the Care Guidelines Setup template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From File, select System \ Practice Template.The Select Template window opens. On the Practice tab, select the All option. Select Care Guidelines Setup, and then select OK.The Care Guideline Setup practice template opens. Expand the Intervention/Orders Setup panel, select a reason type from the list, and then select a Condition/Reason.The grid refreshes with the list of all guideline reasons from the Define Guideline Reasons & Auto Application panel. You can filter the grid to view tests only in the selected guideline. Select an order type in Intervention/Test type. The selected guideline or test type filters test names that appear in Intervention/Test name. Select Intervention/Test name. Update an Orderable Guideline Test Items

You can update an orderable test item of a patient using the Care Guideline Setup template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From File, select System \ Practice Template.The Select Template window opens. On the Practice tab, select the All option. Select Care Guideline Setup, and then select OK.The Care Guideline Setup practice template opens. Expand the Intervention/Orders Setup panel and then select the guideline or test item from the Orderable Tests Setup data grid.Details for the guideline or test item appear in the fields above the grid. These values can be modified. Note: If you select a different value for Reason type, all fields are reset. In Condition/Reason, select any from the list. Create a Guideline

You can create a guideline for a patient on the Care Guideline Setup template. Before you begin You must select the Auto-Apply checkbox to make the Gender, Start age, Stop age, and Diagnosis group fields available. Otherwise, you must manually apply the guideline to patients if you choose to follow it. This can be done during encounter workflow. A guideline with Auto-Apply selected is not applied to a patient when a diagnosis has the Inactive or Resolved status. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
