Select SNOMED® CT Codes for Quality Reporting

You can use SNOMED® CT® codes for Quality Reporting. If you do not bill from NextGen® Enterprise EHR but need to meet the visit-code criteria for Clinical Quality Measures (CQMs), you can use a SNOMED® CT code instead of a CPT® code. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. For a patient record, open a new encounter. Open the Finalize template. On Evaluation and Management Coding, select the SNOMED Type (optional) link.The SNOMED Type template opens. Select a SNOMED® CT code. Select Save & Close.The NextGen® HQM application uses the selected code at the registry reporting time. Note: The code is not uploaded to the Procedures or Problems modules. Submit No Charge Claims

You can use the No Charge Visit checkbox in the Evaluation and Management Coding panel on the Finalize template to submit the no-charge SIM code when you do not want to charge a patient encounter. Before you begin The No Charge Visit checkbox is configured by default. You must configure a no-charge code defined in the SIM library using the Manage Procedure Groups and Codes template. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the Manage Procedure Groups and Codes Practice Template for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. Note: The No Charge Visit checkbox is available only when you configure a no-charge code with the No Charge Visit checkbox using the Manage Procedure Groups and Codes template. Select a Prolonged Time Code

You can select a prolonged time code to report time that surpasses the threshold for code 99205 or 99215 on the Finalize template. Before you begin You must calculate or manually select the visit code 99205 or 99215 in the Evaluation and Management Coding panel. You can report a time of more than 74 minutes for a new patient for code 99205, or more than 54 minutes for an established patient for code 99215. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Finalize template. On the Evaluation and Management Coding panel, select the first blank Visit code field. The Visit Code Service Category Name window opens. Select Prolonged, and select the code for the prolonged service time. The prolonged service time code appears in the Visit code field. Submit E&M Codes under 95 or 97 Coding Guidelines

You can submit a calculated or selected E&M code to the Superbill under the 95 or 97 Coding Guidelines. Before you begin You must select an assessment in the Today’s Assessments panel to submit an E&M code. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. For a patient record, open a new encounter. Open the Finalize template. Expand the Evaluation and Management Coding panel. Evaluation and Management Coding To use a calculated E&M code, you can select the MDM level, or enter the total visit time. Enter any additional visit codes. To meet visit code criteria for Quality Reporting, select a SNOMED® CT code. To override the calculated code, select an E&M code in the code options section at the end of the Evaluation and Management Coding panel. Note: The 99201 code cannot be selected as the code has expired on January 1, 2021. Add Visit Code Modifiers

You can add or replace visit code modifiers. After you have calculated or selected a visit code on the Finalize (BH) template, the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine may add modifiers to the visit code based on coding rules. You can also manually add up to two modifiers for each visit code and edit the modifiers. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. For a patient record, open a new encounter. Open the Finalize (BH) template. Expand the Evaluation and Management Coding panel. To add a modifier to a visit code, select Modifier(s) under the corresponding visit code, and then select a code from the list. To replace the modifier of a visit code, select a modifier, and then select another modifier from the list. Submit Evaluation and Management (E&M) Codes under the 2021 Coding Guidelines

You can submit a calculated or selected Evaluation and Management (E&M) code to the Superbill by using 2021 Coding Guidelines. Before you begin You must ensure that the encounter is on or after the effective start date of 2021 Coding Guidelines entered on the Practice Configuration template, and the visit type falls under the guidelines. For more information on the 2021 Coding Guidelines, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the E&M Coding User Guide for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. Also, you must select an assessment in the Today’s Assessments panel to submit an Evaluation and Management (E&M) code. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open a patient record. Open the Finalize template, and expand the Evaluation and Management Coding panel. To use a calculated E&M code, review and select the Medical Decision Making (MDM) level or enter the total time.
