You can measure the blood pressure and pulse of a patient.
- Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
- Open a patient's record, and then open an encounter.
- On Top Toolbar, select Templates
.
The Select Template window opens.
- Open the Intake template.
- Expand the Vital Signs panel and select Add.
The age-specific vital signs template opens.
- In Blood Pressure and pulse, enter the blood pressure reading in the Systolic and Diastolic fields within the 0 – 399 range.
Note: If the value entered is not within the range,a message appears to indicate that the value entered is out of range. The HTN Plan link opens the Health Promotion Plan template, where you can document a plan of care if the blood pressure of the patient is not in the normal range.
- Enter the pulse rate of the patient in Pulse within the 10 – 499 range.
Note: A message appears if the value entered is not within the range.
- Select the appropriate option for the following:
- Pattern of the pulse rate
- Position of the patient while measuring the blood pressure
- Side of the arm
- Method of measuring the blood pressure
- To document the physical site used to measure the blood pressure, select Site, and then select the appropriate option.
- Select the cuff size of the patient.
- Save and close the template.
