You can document information about the patient's contagion exposure and their travel to areas at high risk for such exposures.
You can add, update, remove, or turn off contagion exposure details in the Contagion Exposure History grid when working on an unlocked encounter. You cannot modify information in a locked encounter. The contagions details are automatically flagged until turned off.
- Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
- Open the Intake template, select the Family Practice specialty and Office Visit visit type, and then select Contagion Risk.
The Contagion Exposure template opens.
- Select the type of document.
- In Exposure, select the type of contagion.
NextGen® Enterprise EHR automatically fills the
Exposure and
Incubation details.
Note: The
Incubation etails appear if the incubation time period to the exposure is assigned in the
Custom DB Picklist system template. A list of contagions are available in the
Custom DB Picklist system template. For more information, go to
NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the
Custom DB Picklists System Template for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine.
- Optional: Modify the incubation period.
- Enter the details of exposure, and then select the risk level.
- Select the State or Country.
Note: If you select Country, NextGen® Enterprise EHR automatically fills the Where field.
- Select the date of exposure and travel details.
- Select the location of exposure, purpose, and mode of travel.
- Optional: If the patient declines to answer any contagion exposure related questions, select the Patient declines to answer checkbox.
- Optional: To add details about a pregnancy affected by Zika, select the Zika Pregnancy Screening.

- Select Add, and then select OK.
The exposure details appear in the
Contagion Exposure History grid. The
Contagion Risk count on the template header is updated.
Note: If you select the Patient declines to answer checkbox, the Contagion Risk count is increased by one.
