You can measure a patient's blood pressure and pulse.
 
  - Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
 
  - Open a patient's record, and then open an encounter.
 
  - On Top Toolbar, select Templates 
.
   
    The Select Template window opens.
   
 
  - Open the Intake template.
 
  - In the Vital Signs panel, select Add.
   
    The Pediatric [Age] Vital Signs template opens.
   
 
  - Enter the blood pressure reading in the Systolic and Diastolic fields within the 0 – 399 range.
   
    
     Note: If the readings are out of the normal range, a message appears. For more information on blood pressure alert messages and how to configure the alert messages, go to

  - Select a position and side.
 
  - Enter the site where the blood pressure reading was taken.
 
  - Select a method, and then select the appropriate cuff size.
   
    Note: The HTN Plan link opens the Health Promotion Plan template where you can document a plan of care if the patient's blood pressure is outside of the normal parameters.
    
 
     
  - Enter the pulse within the 10-499 range, and then select the pulse pattern.
   
    Note: If the value entered is not within the range, a message appears to indicate the same.
    
 
     
  - Save the template.
