Document a Pediatric Pain Level

You can document a pediatric patient's pain level in the Pediatric Vital Signs template.

1. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
2. Open the Intake template.
3. In the Vital Signs panel, select Add.
   The Pediatric [Age] Vital Signs template opens.
4. Enter the pain level.
   The default method Numeric Pain Intensity Scale appears in the Method field. You can select another method, if required.

   The selected pain level and method appears in the Screening Summary and Health Promotion Plan templates.

5. To document the pain assessment and plan of care, click the Pain Plan link.
   The Health Promotion Plan template opens.

   • On the Pain Management panel, the Pain level and Method fields automatically fills in. Select See HPI, if required.
   • Enter the location, onset date, duration, and pain quality.
   • Enter follow-up plan of care.
   • Click OK.
6. Save the Pediatric Vital Signs template.
