Modify a General or Medication Procedure Order

You can modify general or medication procedure orders on the Procedure Order & Discharge Instruction practice template. Select a Specialty, Procedure, Type, and Category to display the pre-configured procedure orders in the grid. The General Procedure Order option is selected by default. If you want to modify a medication procedure order, select Medication Procedure Order. Highlight a row in the grid. The data populates in the corresponding fields. Make relevant changes in the applicable fields. Click Update. The modified procedure order updates in the grid. Parent topic: Configure a Medication Procedure Order

Configure Procedure Order

In the Procedure Order & Discharge Instruction practice template, you can configure general and medication procedure orders for a specific specialty and procedure. To configure specialty-specific procedure orders, click Specialty and select a Specialty from the list. The grid populates with the existing procedure orders configured for the selected specialty. The Procedure Order option is selected by default. To configure procedure orders for a specific procedure, click the Procedures field and select a procedure from the list. The list includes a list of procedures configured for the specialty in the Procedure Config practice template. Click Type to select a type of order from the list. Click Category to select a category or stage to associate with the procedure orders. If the options in the list are not relevant, double-click the top-blank row in the list and enter the appropriate stage in the Category field. Configure Patient Discharge Instructions

You can configure the discharge instructions for a specific procedure to appear in the run-time Patient Discharge Instructions panel on the ASC - Postprocedure template. From Specialty, select a specialty to configure the discharge instructions. Select Patient Discharge Instructions. To configure patient discharge instruction for a specific procedure, click the Procedure field and select a procedure from the list. The list includes a list of procedures configured for the specialty in the Procedure Config practice template. From Category, select a category to associate with the discharge instruction. If the options in the list are not relevant, double-click the top-blank row in the list and enter a new category in the Category field. The newly added category is available in the Category list for the next discharge instruction documentation. Enter the reason for discharge in the Required field. Sort the Procedure Order

The procedure orders in the run-time Procedure Orders panel are in the same order as the procedure order in the grid on the Procedure Order & Discharge Instruction practice template. In the practice template, you can sort the procedure orders in the grid. Select a Specialty, Procedure, Type, and Category to display the pre-configured procedure orders in the grid. The General Procedure Order option is selected by default. If you want to sort the medication orders, select Medication Procedure Order. Select any of the following Sort options below the grid. Procedure - To change the position of all the procedure orders associated with a procedure based on the selected sort functionality. Type - To change the position of all the procedure orders associated with a type of order based on the selected sort functionality. Configure Procedure Orders and Patient Discharge Instructions

You can configure procedure orders and patient discharge instructions in the Procedure Order & Discharge Instruction Practice Template. In run time, the configured procedure orders appear in the Procedure Orders panel, and the patient discharge instructions appear in the Patient Discharge Instructions panel on the Ambulatory Surgical framework templates. Medication Fields to Configure a Medication

This table describes how to use the medication fields that appear to configure medication procedure orders. Field Description Medication Select a medication from the list. The associated National Drug Code (NDC) ID appears in the NDC ID field. If available, the medication dosage appears in the Sig, Dose, and Units fields. Sig Enter the Sig values. Note: : If you enter values in the Sig field, any pre-existing values in the Dose, Units, Route, and Site fields clear. The document Sig value clears from the Sig field, if you attempt to enter values in the Dose, Units, Route, and Site fields. Dose If Sig is not documented, enter the number of dosage. The values entered in the Dose field appear in the Sig field. Units If Sig is not documented, select the unit of dosage. The values entered in the Units field concatenate in the Sig field.
