Care Guidelines Introduction

You can control the functions for a patient using the Care Guidelines template. In NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, the Care Guidelines templates are used to handle health maintenance and disease management functions, including guideline testing and screening, and recommended care. The Care Guidelines templates are available from all the specialty template sets. CAUTION: The Care Guidelines templates are used in a clinical setting with patients. Individuals responsible for maintaining the system need to carefully review the content available on the templates. You can update the content as necessary to meet the needs of the practice. Setting Up Care Guidelines for Use

You can set up the care guidelines for a patient and document the details on the Care Guidelines template. In NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, the Care Guidelines template is used to handle Health Maintenance and Disease Management functions, including guideline testing and screening, and recommended care. You can open the Care Guidelines template using the Care Guidelines link, in the top navigation tabs of all the main tabbed templates for every specialty. CAUTION: Before using the Care Guidelines template in a clinical setting with patients, content on the template should be carefully reviewed by the individuals who are responsible for maintaining the system. You can update as necessary to meet the needs of the practice. Care Guidelines link is always available on the Care Guidelines template. Care Guidelines Clear and Restore Utility

You can clear and restore the content of a care guideline for any patient data. Use the Care Guidelines Clear and Restore practice template to reset care guidelines data and settings back to the original defaults. You can do the following: Restore the NextGen healthcare provided default definitions for care guidelines, this removes care guidelines content you have configured at the practice level. Choose to clear all the care guidelines information at the patient level, such as guidelines activated for patients and their reasons, and any customizations made. This allows you to start over with using care guidelines. CAUTION: Restoring care guidelines default definitions and clearing care guidelines related patient data is a one-time use function. After you decide to run this utility, you cannot recover the data. This utility should not be run when you are using the application. Exporting Selected Patient Level Care Guidelines Data during Removing or Restoring

You can export selected patient level care guidelines data during the removing and restoring process. On theNextGen® Adaptive Content Engine version 8.4.x or later, the Report and Remove and Report and Restore panels on the Care Guidelines Clear and Restore practice template have an Export button that allows you to export the patient data records displayed in the grid to a CSV format file. Note: The Export feature is not available on NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine 8.3.x version databases. Restoring Defaults for Care Guidelines at the Practice Level

You can restore the default content of a care guideline for a patient. Restore the default content and definitions of care guidelines using the Restore NextGen Default Care Guidelines Definitions – Practice Level panel. This removes all existing customized content for the practice. Care guidelines content and definitions at the practice level can be restored for all practices in the enterprise at one time, or for only the practice you are currently logged into. There are three categories of care guidelines content. Each category can be restored without affecting the others: Recommended Care (non-medication) Recommended Care (medication) Orderable items Resetting Care Guidelines at the Patient Level You can reset the content of a care guideline for a patient using the Reset Patient Care Guidelines panel. Restore Practice-Level Default Care Guidelines Content and Definitions You can delete current practice-level data and restore it to default by using the Care Guidelines Clear and Restor

Reporting and Restoring Selected Patient Level Care Guidelines Data

You can report and restore a patient's care guidelines data using the Report and Restore panel. You can restore care guidelines data only during the same cleanup session in which they were removed. You can run a search to view records for care guideline items to restore, including the number of patients and encounters that restoring them affects. After selecting filter options, running the search, and viewing results, you can decide to restore the patient level guideline data for the guideline items displayed in the grid. Filter options can be adjusted until the grid displays those guideline items you wish to restore. To restore patient-level data for the selected guidelines displayed in the grid, you must select the Restore button while the care guidelines application is in Cleanup mode, and no data can be entered for patients or activities related to care guidelines. You can review and restore care guideline items either for one specific practice or for all practices within the enter
