In the Medication Allergies module, select the Allergy Search button.
The Allergy Selection window opens.
In the Allergy Selection window,
Select any one of the filters as described below:
Starts With - for allergies that start with the entered criteria
Contains - for allergies that contain the entered criteria
Ends With - for allergies that end with the entered criteria
Ingredient - from the list of drug ingredients, such as Iodine or Bentonite
Medication Name - from the list of allergies to medications, such as Cefazolin or Tylenol with Codeine
Allergen Group - from the list of allergens, such as Lithium Derivatives or Ester type Anesthetics
Enter the search criteria, such as the name or partial name of the medication allergy you are looking for.
NextGen® Enterprise EHR performs the search as you type. The results appear in the list of allergens.
Select an allergy or perform another search.
Select Cancel to exit without saving your search results.
The NextGen® Enterprise EHR database is displayed with a list of allergies provided by First Databank, a third-party provider. You can create a user-defined allergy if necessary. Speak with your System Administrator about adding specific user-defined allergies.
CAUTION:
A Drug-Allergy Interaction check cannot be performed on user-defined allergies. If you are adding a user-defined allergy to a patient's chart, a warning window displays.
Select OK to select the Allergen and Allergy Type.
