Enter the Medication Allergy Details

After you selected an Allergen and Allergy Type, select a Location and Provider. Select the Intolerance checkbox if the patient is intolerant to the medication. EHR Medication To specify the severity of the allergy, select a Severity from the list. To specify that the allergy you are adding is recorded elsewhere, select the Recorded Elsewhere checkbox.The Source field is available to enter a source. To enter the date the allergy or its symptoms began, select the Onset/Sym Search button. A calendar opens to select an onset date. To enter the date the allergy was resolved, select the Resolved Search button. A calendar opens to select a resolved date. Note: If the Onset Date or Resolved date is unknown, you can use 00/00/0000. To specify the type of reaction the patient has due to the medication allergy, select the Reaction arrow and select a reaction type from the list. Add a Medication Allergy to a Patient Chart

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Medication Allergies module for the selected patient. If the patient has any existing allergies, select Clear. The values in all the fields are cleared. Note: Clearing the fields prevents you from editing an existing allergy. To search and filter an allergy, do the following: Select the search icon next to Allergy. The NextGen - Allergy Selection window opens. Allergy Selection Select one of the following filters from the Filter list: Contains Searches for allergies that contain with the search criteria. Ends With Searches for allergies that end with the search criteria. Ingredient Searches from the list of drug ingredients, such as Iodine or Bentonite. Medication Name searches from the list of medication allergies, such as cefazolin with codeine. Allergen Group Searches from the list of allergens, such as lithium derivatives or ester type anesthetics. For more information on user access rights, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest System Administrator Guide forNextGen®Enterprise. You can view a quick list of the patient's active medication allergies to identify potential adverse drug reactions. You can also open the Medication Allergies module to add or update the patient's allergies. A total count of the patient's active allergies appears on the Allergies button on the Quick Buttons panel. Add Allergies

You can add and review the allergies that a patient may have towards certain medications. You must add the severity of the allergy in the Medication Allergies module. The severity reflects in the allergies grid under the Reaction (Severity) column. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Intake - Cardiology template. Select the Allergies panel. On the Allergies template, do one of the following. If there are no known allergies for a patient, select No known allergies. If applicable, click the Comment link to open the Allergy Comments window. If there are allergies listed in the grid for the patient and if there is no new information to add, click Reviewed, no change. Note: If Joint Commission standards have been enabled in the Practice Configuration practice template, allergy information always has to be documented after entering whether the patient is new or established, along with the Visit type, Historian, and Reason for Visit.
