You can document the feeding method, feeding schedule, and the elimination details of a special needs patient.
 
  - Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
 
  - To open the Interval History - Nutrition template, do one of the following:
   
    - On the Histories template, expand the Social panel, select Nutrition, and then click Add/Edit.
 
    - In the History Summary panel on the Intake template, click Social, click Nutrition, and then click Add/Edit.
 
   
 
  - Click the Special needs nutrition/elimination link.
   
    The 
Special Needs Nutrition/Elimination template opens. 
    
    
  - In the Nutrition/Elimination panel, under the Diet/feeding section, select the appropriate tube feeding method and enter the following: 
   
    
     - Tube type
 
     - Tube length and unit of measurement
 
     - Tube diameter and the unit
 
     - Comments on the diet or feeding
 
    
     
  - In the Elimination section, enter the following:
   
    
     - Type of ostomy
 
     - Name of appliance used for the ostomy
 
     - Size of the urinary catheter and the unit of measurement
 
     - Frequency
 
     - Type of diaper or brief and diaper size
 
     - Comments on elimination.
 
    
     
  - In the Feeding Schedule panel, enter the target and actual daily calories, and enter the following in the Modulars section.
   
    - Modular type
 
    -  Amount/serving and the units
 
    - Servings per day 
 
   
 
  - In the Daytime feeding section under the Tube feeding section, enter the following:
   
    - Volume per feed and the units
 
    - Rate of feed and the units
 
    - Formula name
 
    - Daytime feeding frequency and scheduled feeding times
 
   
 
  - In the Overnight feeding section under the Tube feeding section, enter the following:
   
    - Volume per feed and the units
 
    - Rate of feed and the units
 
    - Formula name
 
    - Start and end time
 
   
 
  - Enter any comments related to the feeding schedule.
 
  - Click OK to save the data and return to the Interval History - Nutrition [age range] template.
