Add a Description for Equipment Type Template
On the
Equipment Log
practice template, expand the
Equipment Log
panel.
Select an
Equipment Type
from the first left pane.
The associated categories appear in the second left pane.
Select a
Category
from the second pane.
In
Description
, enter a description to be associated with the selected equipment type and category.
In
Short Description
, enter a short description for the description to appear as the navigational tab in run time.
Click
Selection type
and select any of the following options from the list:
Mutually Exclusive
: In run time, you cannot select any additional descriptions for the category.
Multiple Choice
: In run time, you can select additional descriptions for the category.
Click
Value Type 1
and select any of the following options from the list:
Number Pad
: In run time, a number pad opens when you select the description.
Free Text
: In run time, the
Comments
template opens when you select a description.
Click
Next Category
to select a category from the list.
In run time, the system auto-selects the configured
Next Category
after you select the associated mutually exclusive description.
To clear values from all the fields and start over, click
Clear
.
Click
Add
.
The configured description appears in the right grid.
To add a new level to the documented description in the right grid, highlight the description in the grid and click
Add Level
.
Repeat Steps 3 to 9 to add the next level descriptions.
Note:
If a duplicate entry is made, an alert message appears and the duplicate entry is not saved to the grid.

Configure Equipment Details
In the Equipment Log panel, you can add a description for equipment based on the selected category. The Equipment Log panel includes the buttons described in the table. Previous Level - Moves back to the previous level if you have more than one level for a Description. The button is unavailable if you are at the first level of the description. You need to highlight a row in the grid and click the Previous Level button to view the previous level of the description. Next Level - Moves to the next level if you have more than one level for a Description. The button is unavailable if you access the last level of the description. You need to select a row in the grid and click the Next Level button to view the next level of the description. Configure Inventory Items for Equipment Type
On the Equipment Log practice template, expand the Inventory panel. Select an equipment type from the first left pane. The associated categories appear in the second left pane. The short description of the selected equipment type appears as the navigational tab above the first left pane. Select a category from the second left pane. The associated description appears in the right grid. The short description of the selected category appears as the navigational tab above the second left pane. Select a description from the right grid. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 to group the applicable categories and the associated descriptions. In run time, when you select a category and the associated description that is grouped for the inventory, the system auto-selects the rest of the categories and the associated descriptions within that group. The Clear button clears all the selections from the left panes and right grid. Click Add. The selected data appears in the grid at the bottom of the Inventory panel.

Document the Equipment Details
On the Equipment Log practice template, expand the Categories panel. Click Equipment type to open a list of the pre-configured equipment types available in the grid and select an equipment type from the list. Double-click the top blank row in the list and enter a new equipment type in the Equipment type field, if the options in the list are not relevant. The Equipment type short description field auto-populates with the same value selected/entered in the Equipment type field. Click Category to open a list of categories pre-configured for the selected equipment type and select a category from the list. Document Description for an Entry Type in the Documentation Log Panel
On the Documentation Log Config practice template, expand the Documentation Log panel. Select an Entry Type from the first left pane. The associated categories appear in the second left pane. Select a Category and then a Sub Category, if available. In Value, enter a description up to 100 characters to associate with the selected entry type and category or sub-category. Click Selection type and select any of the following options from the list: Mutually exclusive : In run time, you cannot associate multiple descriptions with a category or sub-category. Multiple choice : In run time, you can select multiple descriptions for a category or sub-category. If applicable, click Value Type 1 and select any of the following options: Number Pad : In run time, a number pad opens when you select a description. Add a Sub-Category to a Category
In the Sub Navigation Item 2 panel, you can configure sub-categories for a category associated with an entry type. The categories are configured in the Navigational Item2 panel on the Documentation Log Config practice template. On the Documentation Log Config practice template, expand the Sub Navigation Item 2 panel. Click Entry Type and select an entry type from a list of entry types configured in the Navigation panel. Click Navigation Item 2 and select a category from a list of categories configured in the Navigation Item 2 panel. In Sub navigation item 2, enter a sub-category for the selected category. The sub-category updates the Short description field. If applicable, modify the Short description for the sub-category. The short description appears as the navigational tab in the Documentation Log panel on the practice template and on the ASC Documentation Log run-time template. Sort the Documentation Log Entries
The Documentation Log panel enables you to sort the entry types, categories, and descriptions. The entries in the run-time ASC Documentation Log template are in the same order as the entries in the Documentation Log panel. On the Documentation Log Config practice template, expand the Documentation Log panel. To sort an entry type, do the following: Select an entry type in the first left pane. Click the up or down arrow below the first left pane. The selected entry type moves to the new position.
