Creating a Person Account

When you select a person as the guarantor on a patient’s encounter for the first time, the person's account is automatically created. You can manually create a person account before selecting that person as the guarantor on a patient’s encounter, if needed. You can create a person account from the following areas in NextGen® Enterprise PM. People Lookup Patient Lookup Note: To create a person account, the person must have an existing demographic record. Create Person Accounts from People Lookup You can create a person account using the People Lookup window. Create Person Accounts from Patient Lookup You can use the Add Patient Information or Modify Patient Information windows to create a person or patient account. Parent topic: Person Accounts Overview

Creating Account Budget Plans

When the account balance is not paid in full, you can create a budget plan for a guarantor or an account on the Budget tab. A budget plan, which is a regularly scheduled payment plan, can be Perpetual or Non-Perpetual in nature. The Budget Plans section displays all the information related to the accounts budget plans. The History section displays all the significant events related to the patient's budget plan. Account Profile Budget Tab Add a Non-Perpetual Budget Plan to an Account You can use the Budget tab on an Account Profile window to add a non-perpetual budget tab to the account. Managing Account Encounters Details

The Encounters Detail tab of the Account Profile window contains a list of all the encounters associated with a particular account. You can do the following on the Encounters Detail tab. View totals for accounts including the balance owed. View the total adjustments and charges for each of the patients. Filter encounters according to your preference. Pre-list encounters for sending to a collection agency and assigning a bad debt status. Reinstate encounters that have been previously pre-listed. Account Encounters Detail tab A folder appears for each patient under this guarantor. You can do the following to see more information for a selected encounter: Double-click the encounter to view the details of the encounter. Right-click in the first row of the Guarantor Information section to select the columns to display in the Guarantor Information section of the window. Create Person Accounts from People Lookup

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Lookup. The People Lookup window opens. In the Search Criteria section, enter the person's information and then selectFind. Person records that match the search criteria appear in the Matching Records section. Select the person, and then selectOpen. The Modify Person Information window opens. Note: When you select the patient, the Update Patient Information window opens. Verify that the demographics, billing address, and contact information are complete. SelectAccount. A message appears asking you for confirmation to create the account. Select OK. The person account is created and the Account Profile window opens. Person Accounts Overview

A person account is automatically created when the person is selected as the guarantor on a patient’s encounter for the first time, which results in statements generated for the person’s account that include encounters with outstanding self-pay balances. NextGen® Enterprise PM assigns each account a unique account number on the person's Account Profile window. The account number is also printed on statements sent to the guarantor. The Account Profile window for a person account includes the following tabs: Properties Encounter Detail Account Summary Credit Card on File Budget Notes Creating Person Accounts You can create a person account using the People Lookup and the Patient Lookup windows. Set Active Status for Accounts You can use the Account Profile window for a given patient to set an active account. Create Person Accounts from Patient Lookup

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the NextGen® Enterprise PM toolbar, selectChart. The Patient Lookup window opens. Enter the search criteria data to locate the patient, and then selectFind. All existing patients that match the search criteria display in the Matching Records section of the Patient Lookup window. Right-click the patient, and then select Open. The Add Patient Information window opens. Verify the Demographics, Billing Address and Phone information. SelectAccount. A message appears asking you for confirmation to create the account. SelectOK.
