Viewing Encounter Information

You can view encounter information on the Patient Information Bar on the Encounters tab in the chart. Encounter information includes the following: Enc. Insurance displays Self Pay or the primary insurance linked to the encounter. You can hover over Enc. Insurance to view primary, secondary and tertiary encounter-level insurances. Rendering displays the name of the rendering provider linked to the encounter. Guarantor displays the name of the guarantor (person or employer) linked to the encounter. Based on practice preferences, the following may also appear: Up to three selected field values from the patient, person, or practice_person_sliding_fee tables. The sliding fee schedule name is based on the priority in the window. Only one sliding fee schedule description can appear on the Patient Information Bar. If a field has a lengthy display label, 15 characters are shown followed by an ellipsis. You can hover over the label to see the full name. Links to the following features: Appointm

Viewing General Information in Encounters Viewing General Information in Encounters The General tab under Encounters in the patient's chart displays general, provider, diagnosis, and guarantor information for the selected encounter. You can use the Encounters tab to do the following: Open an encounter to view the Encounter Maintenance window. Right-click an encounter to open the shortcut menu. Add or to modify an encounter. Add or modify encounter-level diagnosis codes for an encounter in the ICD-CM section. You can view the ICD-9 to ICD-10 mapping for the ICD-10 codes that have been attached to the patient for the encounter. Add or modify guarantor information for an encounter in the Guarantor section. NextGen® Enterprise PM Patient Information Bar Descriptions

The following tables provide additional descriptions for the Patient Demographic Information and Alerts section of PM Patient Information Bar. Use this table when setting up the PM Patient Information Bar Practice Preferences. Patient Demographic Information You can select up to three types of demographic information to display on the Patient Information Bar. Select this check box... To display... Default Guarantor The patient's default Guarantor from the Patient Chart > Patient Information tab > Relationship/Contact/Guar sub-tab. Preferred Language The patient's Preferred Language from the Patient Information window. View, Add, and Modify Encounters

When you select a diagnosis in Charge Entry multiplies into more than one code for a payer based on alternate diagnosis mappings in the diagnosis code library. You can view the diagnosis code mapping on the General tab under Encounters in the patient chart. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Chart, and then in Patient Lookup, enter your search criteria, and then select Find. Matching people and patient records appear in the search results. In Matching Records, select a patient record , and then select Open. The Patient Information tab opens in the Patient Chart window. Select the Encounters tab. You can select the Encounter Date and Encounter Number checkboxes to view the corresponding encounters. The list of encounters, encounter and provider information, guarantor, claim status, and patient group details appear. Add Insurance Verification Information to an Encounter

You can enter additional information for an insurance linked to an encounter in the Patient Insurance - Encounter window. This applies to primary, secondary, and tertiary payers. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Chart or Chart Lookup.. The Patient Lookup window opens. In the Search Criteria section, enter the patient's information, and select Find. Patient records that match the search criteria, appear in the Matching Records section. Select the patient, and then select Open. The Patient Chart window opens. Select the Encounters tab. From the Encounters list, select an encounter with a payer attached. Select the Insurance tab. In the Encounter Insurance section, select the payer. In the Verification section, select open record . Charge Posting Toolbar

The toolbar on the Charge Posting window includes icons that you can use to perform a variety of actions and functions when working with charges in NextGen® Enterprise PM. The following table describes the use of each icon available on the Charge Posting toolbar. Icons Name Description View Chart Opens the Patient Chart window for the selected patient. Recall Opens the Recall Plan Maintenance window to add a recall for a patient who has no existing recalls, or the Patient Recall window for a patient who has one or more existing recall.
