The
Charge Posting
window opens.
Select the patient and the charge you want to delete.
The system displays the charges for the selected encounter.
You can do one of the following to delete a charge.
Select the charge, and then select
Delete
.
Right click the charge, and then select
Delete
.
Note:
The
Delete
button on the
Charge Posting
window is available for unprocessed charges with no transactions or auto adjustments.

Reverse a Charge
To reverse a charge, do the following: Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Charges. The Charge Posting window opens. Enter a new charge. Select QTY, and then enter -1. The system negates the original charge. Type a note in the Notes field to explain the reversal for audit purposes. Select OK. Note: If the initial charge had an automatic adjustment applied to it, you must edit the initial charge before reversing a charge. Parent topic: Deleting Charges

Delete a Charge
Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Charges. The Charge Posting window opens. Select the patient and the charge you want to delete. The system displays the charges for the selected encounter. You can do one of the following to delete a charge. Select the charge, and then select Delete. Right click the charge, and then select Delete. Deleting Charges
You can delete unprocessed charges with no transactions or auto adjustments from the encounter on the Charge Posting window. A deleted charge is removed from the encounter. You cannot delete an unprocessed charge with an unposted transaction. You must remove the transaction if you want to delete the charge. You cannot delete an unprocessed charge with a posted transaction. Even if the transaction is reversed, the charge cannot be deleted. It can be voided. The Delete button on the Charge Posting window is available for unprocessed charges with no transactions or auto adjustments. Delete a Charge You can delete a charge on the Charge Posting window. Reverse a Charge You can reverse the existing chage with the new charge.

Remove Charges from an Encounter to be Deleted
You cannot delete encounters with processed charges or with charges with posted transactions. Access the Patient Chart. Select the Encounters tab, and then the General sub-tab. From the Encounters list, select the encounter to be deleted. Right-click and select Charges from the menu. The Charge Posting window opens. From the ledger section of the window, select a charge to be deleted. Select the Delete button. A prompt appears asking to confirm if you want to delete this charge. To delete the charge, select OK. The charge is deleted from the encounter. Repeat steps 5-7 for additional charges to be deleted. Close the Charge Posting window. Parent topic: Delete Encounters
