Create Cases in an Encounter

Before you begin In Practice Preferences, you must turn on Enable Case Management on the Case Management tab in File Maintenance. You can view and group the common patient encounter data in a case. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Chart, and then in Patient Lookup, enter your search criteria, and then select Find. Matching people and patient records appear in the search results. In Matching Records, select a patient record , and then select Open. The Patient Information tab opens in the Patient Chart window. Select the Encounters tab, select the Case Management tab, and then select an encounter. The cases associated with the selected encounter appear. Select the open menu icon next to Case Management, and then select New. In the Case Management window, enter the necessary information, and then select OK. Open Previous Patient Charts

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Chart, and then in Patient Lookup, enter your search criteria, and then select Find. Matching people and patient records appear in the search results. In Matching Records, select a patient record , and then select Open. The Patient Information tab opens in the Patient Chart window. On Patient Information Bar, select the open menu icon next to the patient name, select Access Previous Patient, and then select the necessary patient. The selected patient chart opens. Optional: To set the patient account as active, on Patient Information Bar, select the open menu icon next to the patient name, and then select Set Active Patient. Add Primary Care Provider for Patients

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Lookup, and then in People Lookup, enter your search criteria, and then select Find.Matching people and patient records appear in the search results. In Matching Records, double-click a patient record . In Update Patient Information, select the Provider tab, select the open menu icon, and then select New. In the Add Patient Provider window, select items from the Preference Name and Providers lists. You can select an effective date, expiration date, and expiration reason. Select the Primary Preference Name checkbox, and then select OK.The primary care provider details are updated. Apply the Patient Preferred Name to Correspondence

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Chart, and then in Patient Lookup, enter your search criteria, and then select Find. Matching people and patient records appear in the search results. In Matching Records, select a patient record , and then select Open. The Patient Information tab opens in the Patient Chart window. Select the Chart Details tab, and then select the open record icon. In Chart Details, select the Use Preferred Name on Correspondence checkbox, and then select OK. Set up Patient Co-Management Information

When a patient is co-managed by two physicians within the enterprise, you can add the name of the co-managing physician in the patient chart. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Chart or Chart Lookup Chart Lookup icon. The Patient Lookup window opens. In the Search Criteria section, enter the patient's information, and then select Find. Patient records that match the search criteria appear in the Matching Records section. Select the patient, and then select Open. The Patient Chart window opens. Under Patient Information, select the Chart Details tab, and then select open folder Open Folder Icon. The Chart Details window opens. Select Co-Managed Patient. Create a Patient Chart

In NextGen® Enterprise PM, people with an existing appointment, an account guarantor, an insurance subscriber, and an emergency contact are considered to be persons. When you create a chart, the person becomes a patient in your practice, and the patient chart is available only to your practice. However, if the patient is linked to multiple practices, a common patient demographic record is shared across the practices. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Chart, and then in Patient Lookup, enter your search criteria, and then select Find. Matching people and patient records appear in the search results. To avoid creating a duplicate record, enter different search criteria combinations, and then select Find.If your practice uses phonetic search, you can select the option to include patients with similar names in the search results.
