Look Up Encounters by Program

You can use the Encounter Lookup window to search for encounters linked to specific programs. To open the Encounter Lookup window, do one of the following: From the main toolbar, select Encounter. From Tasks menu, select Lookup and then select Encounters. The Encounter Lookup window opens. Enter the search criteria to find the required encounter. You can use multiple parameters. For example, select Bill Status, Billable Date Range, Rendering Physician, and Service Location. In the Program field, select one or more programs to limit the search results to include only the encounters linked to the selected programs. Note: The Program field appears only if you select the Enable Programs check box on the Programs preference in the Practice Preferences window. When the program access right for a user is set to No in System Administrator > Rights > Operations > Chart/Demographics/Employer > Program, the user cannot access the Program field. Select Find. Enroll a Patient in a Program

You can enroll a patient in a program from Patient Chart in NextGen® Enterprise PM. The patient must be enrolled in a program before you link their encounters to that program. Note: The Behavioral Health Phase 3 (BH 3.0) templates in NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine enable you to enroll patients in programs from a template in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. For example, if you use the BH-Program Enrollment template in NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, the Program Enrollment window in NextGen® Enterprise PM automatically displays the same information. From Patient Chart, select the Patient Information tab, and then select the Programs sub-tab. The existing program enrollments for the patient are listed in the Programs section. Note: The Programs sub-tab appears only if you select the Enable Programs check box on the Programs preference in the Practice Preferences window. Reporting on Programs

In NextGen® Enterprise PM, you can use the following reports to identify, review and monitor patient encounters that are linked to a program: Daily Encounters Billed Encounters Unbilled Encounters Threshold Tracking You can generate the reports to display program-related information for each encounter, such as program name, primary provider, and enrollment and discharge dates. You can also filter the reports to include or exclude specific programs. For more information on these reports, refer to the Reports User Guide for NextGen Enterprise PM. Working with Programs in NextGen® Enterprise PM

When Programs are enabled for a practice, you can utilize the following functionality in NextGen® Enterprise PM: Enroll a patient in a program in the Patient Chart from Programs sub-tab under Patient Information tab . Link a patient's encounter to a program from the Create Encounter or General tab on the Encounter Maintenance window. Display a warning message when an encounter does not meet program-specific requirements. Default new encounters to In Progress status when they are created and linked to a specific program. View the program linked to a patient's encounter in the Patient Chart from the General sub-tab under the Encounters tab . Display warning messages on the Charge Posting window when a charge does not meet program-specific requirements. Generate a Daily Encounters, Billed Encounters or Unbilled Encounters report to review and monitor encounters that are linked to programs. Associate a Program to an encounter

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from Patient Lookup window. From a patient chart, select New > Encounter in File menu.The Select a Program window opens displaying programs that the patient is enrolled in. Select a program and then select OK. The encounter has been associated to the program. The program appears in the Encounter Maintenance > Program list. The Encounter Status in NextGen Enterprise PM > Patient Chart > Encounters > Encounter Information for the patient appears as In Progress. View Eligibility Information for a Patient

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Chart or Chart Lookup.. The Patient Lookup window opens. In the Search Criteria section, enter the patient's information, and select Find. Patient records that match the search criteria appear in the Matching Records section. Select the patient and then select Open. The Patient Chart window opens. Select the Encounters tab. From the Encounters list, select an encounter with a payer attached. Access the patient's chart and select the Encounters tab. Select the Insurance tab.
