EDI Hyperlink and EDI Messaging Window

When selected, the EDI Messaging window appears and you can identify and set the patient's notification preferences for balance reminders, appointment reminders, and recall plans. The options on this window are determined by your system administrator and can include email, SMS (text), and voice reminders. The icons that display correspond to the patient's preferences as selected in the EDI Messaging window. The following icons display for the notification types: Notifications Type Description Email This contact is used to send EDI notifications via email if the patient has opted to receive them. SMS (Text) This contact is used to send EDI notifications via text message if the patient has opted to receive them. Voice This contact is used to send EDI notifications via voice reminder if the patient has opted to receive them. The EDI Console sends the reminder messages to the patient. Add Patient Preferences for EDI Messaging

The EDI Messaging window is only available to practices that have an EDI license. The options in the reminders fields are determined by your system administrator. Use this window to identify how the patient wants to receive reminders. NextGen EDI services uses the NextGen EDI Console to create and send the reminders to the patient. Open the Add/Modify Person/Patient Information window for the applicable person/patient. Select the hyperlink. The EDI Messaging window opens. On the EDI Messaging window do the following and then select OK. In the Appointment Reminders field, select one or more of the following: Opt Out Email SMS (Text) Voice Reminders In the Balance Reminders field, select one or more of the following: Opt Out Email SMS (Text) Voice Reminders In the Recall Plans field, select one or more of the following: Opt Out Email SMS (Text) Voice Reminders Select the EDI Notification option button. Person/Patient Information History Tab

Changes to a patient's EDI Messaging preferences are listed on the History tab. When a patient changes their preferences on how they want to be contacted for balance reminders, appointment reminders, or recall plans; an EDI Messaging Change displays on the Person/Patient Information > History tab. The following list provides examples of the types of messages that will display. Set Up Advanced Auditing for NextGen® EDI Messaging

In Advanced Audit, you can track changes to NextGen® EDI Messaging. This tracking occurs when a user changes how appointment reminders, balance reminders, and recall plans are sent to the patient. The current methods are email, SMS text, and voice reminders. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Do one of the following: From the main toolbar, select Chart. Select Tasks > Lookup > Charts. In the Patient Lookup window, enter search criteria and select Find. Select Admin > Advanced Audit Setup. In the Advanced Audit Setup window, select your practice. EDI Messaging EDI Messaging When your practice is licensed for EDI the hyperlink and the EDI Notification option button can display on the Person/Patient Information > Demographics tab. These features are determined by your system administrator in Practice Preferences > NextGen EDI Sevices. Set Up Advanced Auditing for NextGen EDI Messaging You can track NextGen® EDI notification changes in NextGen® Enterprise PM using Advanced Audit. This allows you to monitor modifications to NextGen® EDI Messaging settings, including changes in how appointment reminders, balance reminders, and recall plans are sent to patients.
