Search for Appointments Based on Location Time Zone
In the Appointment Search Ahead window, when you search for an appointment time slot, the system searches and lists the current and future available time slots for the selected location.

While scheduling an appointment you can search for the available time slots for an event, a resource, and a location from the Appointment Search Ahead window and book an appointment. To open the Appointment Search Ahead window, do one of the following: Select Tasks > Appt Search. In the Appointment Book window, select the Appointment Search icon. The Appointment Search Ahead window opens. In the Event field, select an event or an event chain for the search. This is a mandatory field. In the Service Location field, select one or more locations for the search, or select the All option to include all locations. This is a mandatory field. In the Resources/Classes field, select one or more resources for the search, or select a single class. This is a mandatory field. Note: You cannot select both a resource and a class. Enter the other fields in the Search Criteria section as needed. Select Find. You can select multiple parameters in the Search Criteria section in the Appointment Search Ahead window to find available timeslots for new appointments. For example, select an event, a service location, a resource, and an appointment date range. The following table describes the fields that are available in the Search Criteria section of the Appointment Search Ahead window: Field Description Event You must select an event or an event chain for the search. This is a mandatory field. When you select an event chain, the specified search criteria apply only to the first event in the event chain. You can only specify the date and time only for the first event in the event chain. Note: Event chains are listed before the events, when you select the Display event chains before events option in the Appt Search/Waitlist tab on the Appointment Scheduling Preferences window. In NextGen® Enterprise PM while scheduling an appointment, you can use the Appointment Search Ahead feature to find the available timeslots for a specific event, location, and resource. For example, a patient wants to book an appointment for a physical exam at the main office location with Dr. Smith. The patient wants the appointment within the next three weeks and preferably on a Tuesday or Thursday morning. You can enter these criteria on the Appointment Search Ahead window to find the available time slots that meet the patient's request. You can schedule an appointment for a patient from the available time slots on the Enterprise Appointment Search Ahead window. On the Enterprise Appointment Search Ahead window, in the Available Timeslots section, right-click or double-click the desired time slot. If you have multiple resources and service locations from various practices for the selected event, you can select on the filter on the Practice column in the Available Timeslots section. The available time slots for the resources and service location of the selected practice lists. The Book Appointment menu appears. Select Book Appointment. The event, resources, service location, date, and time fields are filled. The Add Appointment window opens. Select the open menu icon, and select Lookup. If the patient is selected on the Enterprise Appointment Search Ahead window, the patient information is added on the Add Appointment window. The People Lookup window opens. The Enterprise Appointment Search Ahead window enables you to book appointments across the practices that you have access to from the currently logged on practice. When you select an enterprise event and search for an appointment, the list of available time slots for that enterprise event appears in the Available Timeslots section. When you right-click or double-click any time slot and if the appointment is available in another practice and not in the logged on practice, the Enterprise Appointment Search Ahead window opens the practice in which the appointment slot is available, and the Appointment Book for that practice opens. Note: When the practice switches from the logged on practice to the other practice, the Session Settings window opens, if session settings are set for the practice. The security rights for the available time slots on the Enterprise Appointment Search Ahead window are the same as that of the practice. In NextGen® Enterprise PM, select Tasks > Appt Search > Enterprise. The Enterprise Appointment Search Ahead window opens. Select or right-click the Patient open menu, and select Lookup. The Patient Lookup window opens. Note: This is an optional field. You can add the patient in the search you can add on the Enterprise Appointment Search Ahead window. Else, you can add the patient while booking an appointment for the desired time slot. On the Patient Lookup window, find the patient for scheduling an appointment. The patient details appear on the Enterprise Appointment Search Ahead window. Select an enterprise event from Enterprise Event. Note: This is a required field. The other search criteria are enabled only after you select the enterprise event. In Search By, select Resources or Enterprise classes.
