Managing Accounts

An account guarantor is a person or business responsible for the charges remaining in a patient's account after all the parties have paid their share. An account guarantor can be one of the following:
  • Patient
  • Family member
  • Person whose insurance is being billed
  • Employer

An account is a financial summary of the patient's guarantor. A guarantor can have only one account but can be associated with multiple patients for financial responsibility. Accounts can be person accounts or employer accounts with a unique account number.

Charges on a guarantor's account is a sum of all the charges on the encounters for all the patients. A patient can have multiple encounters, each associated with a different guarantor account.
