Insurance Detail Report

The Insurance Detail report is a charge-based line item report that shows insurance detail for every charge, and an aging category.

By using Columns, you can specify which columns you want to include in your report. From Columns, you can select the Prim Payer (Primary payer), Sec Payer (Secondary payer), and Tert Payer (Tertiary payer) to populate the payer names on the report. The Ins1 Amt, Ins2 Amt, and Ins3 Amt columns are pre-selected by default. After generating the report, the insurance balances are displayed separately in Ins1 Amt, Ins2 Amt, and Ins3 Amt columns.

The report has "drill-down" functionality that enables you to double-click on a record to access the Account Profile window directly from the report.

To access the report in NextGen® Enterprise PM, select the Reports menu and select Accounts Receivable, then select Collections, and then select Insurance Detail.

From the Report Filter window, select Info to view the following information about the report:

Logic:
  • This is a charge based report.
  • Pulls charges based on report filters, and then transactions associated to those charges.
  • Charges display under the primary Payer/Financial Class.
  • Primary, Secondary and Tertiary payers can be selected on the columns tab and displayed on the report.
  • You can "drill-down" from the report to the encounter.
  • Unlike other aging reports, this report will display the aging in one column and in single digit increments: 1 = 0-30, 2 = 31-60, 3 = 61-90, 4 = 91-120, 5 = 121-160, 6 = 161-180, 7 = 181 and up.
Filtering Info:
  • Runs only by the current Process Date.
  • Aging Dates determine in which aging bucket balances will reside.
  • Encounter Statuses:
    • If running for balancing purposes, include all statuses.
    • If running for A/R purposes, include Billed, Unbilled and Rebill.
  • Unapplied transactions will always show on the report. They do not come off the report when applied to a line item. All Account level unapplied payments show at the top of the report. Encounter unapplied payments that have been utilized will pull down under the sorting option.
  • This report can also be used to help find the positive and negative with zero balances. For example: A -$15 in Ins2 and a $15 in patient bucket nets to zero. You can use Filter 2, Line Item amount = $0.00 and Patient Amount = $0.00.
Common Uses:
  • Month end balancing purposes.
  • Work outstanding A/R.
Balances to the Following Reports:
  • Balances to the following reports if all statuses are included:
    • Monthly Changes in AR.
    • Aging Analysis By Encounter.
    • Aging Analysis By Line Item.
    • Collections Insurance Aging.
  • You can recreate AR from a prior time period to show the appropriate aging and bottom line AR total. However, you cannot reproduce the responsible party from that prior period. Current history status charges will display balances in the patient bucket
