Encounter Types

The following encounter types are used in the NextGen® Enterprise applications:

Billable

Encounters that comprise chargeable services and information on charges for the services for a patient. By default, the NextGen® Enterprise PM and NextGen® Optical Management encounters are of billable encounter types.

Clinical

This encounter type is for encounters holding clinical information such as procedures, medications, allergies, etc. for a patient chart. By default, the NextGen® Enterprise encounters are of Clinical encounter types.

Optical

This encounter type is used in NextGen® Optical Management for holding optical-related information for a patient chart. By default, the NextGen® Optical Management encounters are of optical encounter types.
