Enable Alerts and Warnings for a Program

On the Add/Modify Program Information window, the Alerts/Warnings sub-tab under the Practice tab enables you to activate or deactivate the display of program-related warning messages to users in the practice. Access File Maintenance. Select System Master Files, then PM, and then Programs. The Programs List window opens. From the list, select a program and then do one of the following: Select Open Menu and then select Open. Right-click and then select Open. Double-click to open the program. The Modify Program Information window opens. Select the Practice tab, and then Alerts/Warnings on the left. Select the Enable Encounter Warnings check box to display a warning message to users on the Create Encounter and Encounter Maintenance windows when the Rendering on the encounter does not match the Limit Provider Credentials requirements defined on the System tab. Set Up Practice Options for a Program

On the Add/Modify Program Information window, the Practice tab enables you to define practice-level parameters for the program. These settings apply only to the practice you are currently logged in to. Note: You must have Program - Practice Level security access rights in System Administrator to modify settings on the Practice tab. Access File Maintenance. Programs Listing Report Columns

The Program Listing report includes information from the Programs master file in File Maintenance. Information on the report pulls from the Modify Program Information window. The report includes the following information: Column Description Data Populates From Program Name Program Name Name field on the System tab. Charge Posting Alerts/Warnings for a Program

When you enter charges on an encounter that is linked to a program with service item, diagnosis or provider credential limitations defined in File Maintenance, a warning message displays if a charge does not meet all program requirements. Note: The Enable Charge Entry Warnings check box must be selected in the Programs master file. On the Charge Posting window, when a mismatch is found between the encounter program and the charge, one or more of the following warning messages displays after selecting Save to save the charge. Mismatch between the encounter Program and the charge Service Item: The Service Item is not valid for this program.Charge Posting Alert/Warning 1 Mismatch between the encounter Program and the charge Diagnosis: The Diagnosis Code(s) are not valid for this program.Charge Posting Alert/Warning 2 Mismatch between the encounter Program and the charge Rendering: The Rendering charge provider does not have required credential for this program.Charge Posting Alert/Warning

Charge Entry Options

The following table describes the options available on the Charges tab of the Charge Entry Practice Preferences. Field Description Prevent charge rendering physician modifications after practice closing Select this option to prevent users from changing a charge's rendering physician if the charge was created before the closing date. Note that the charge create date does not have to be the encounter date; a charge can be added after practice closing and the rendering does not lock down until the practice closes again. You can still add a rendering physician if no rendering physician has been entered for the charge. Prevent charge referring physician modifications after practice closing Select this check box to prevent users from changing the charge's referring provider on an encounter after practice closing. This check box only affects voidable charges. Note: You must also select the Display referring providers check box. Prevent charge additional provider modifications after practice c

Enter Dental Charges

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM, and then select Charges. The Charge Posting window opens. Select the desired patient and encounter. Do one of the following: To add a charge, select New. To modify a charge, select the charge and then select Open. In the Svc Dates fields, enter the service date range for the charge. These fields default to the Billable Date, when you select it on the Encounter Maintenance window. Select Svc Item, and then enter the applicable dental service item. The Unit and Override fields default to the price from the SIM Library. The Extended field is calculated as (Quantity x Override = Extended) and displays the total price for the charge. Select Modifier, and then enter up to four modifiers for the charge. Select Quantity, and then enter the desired quantity. The Quantity field defaults to 1.
