Add an Employer

Open the Person Information or Patient Information window for the desired person or patient. Select the Employer tab. Select the open menu , and select New. The Employer Lookup window appears. In the Employer Name field, enter all or part of the employer's name. Select Find. All employers that match the search criteria entered display in the Matching Records list. Note: Items available for selection are from the Employers master file in File Maintenance. If no records are found, the following prompt appears stating that no records were found. From the Matching Records list, double-click to select the employer. The Employer Maintenance window appears. Fields on the Employer Maintenance window are available for modification only if you have security access rights in System Administrator to update the Employers master file. Viewing Hidden Payers Information

In the Insurance Listing section on the Demographics tab, you can display the hidden payers by selecting the Show Hidden check box. When you clear the selection, the hidden payers are not displayed in Insurance Listing. Note: The Show Hidden check box is not selected by default. You can perform the following actions related to hidden insurance: Displaying hidden payers- In the Insurance Listing section, the hidden payers are displayed after unhidden payers. If there are employer insurances, the hidden payers are displayed after the employer insurances. Note: When a new payer is marked as hidden, it appears at the end in the list of hidden payers. Promoting or Demoting hidden payers- You can promote and demote hidden payers only within the group of hidden payers. Note: If you attempt to promote the hidden payers above the unhidden payers,a warning message appears stating that a hidden insurance cannot be promoted above unhidden insurances. Managing Employer Information

On the Employer tab, you can enter employer information for a person or patient, including the name, address, and phone and fax numbers for the employer. In addition, you can enter the person or patient's occupation and employment status. Information on the Employer tab is stored at the system level; therefore, all practices in all enterprises share the same information for a person or patient. Viewing Hidden Payers in the Patient Chart

You can view hidden payers on the Insurance Listing window on the patient chart, by selecting the Show Hidden check box. Note: The Show Hidden check box is not selected by default. If employer insurances are included, the hidden payers are displayed after the employer insurances. Note: When a new payer is marked as hidden, the payer appears at the end in the list of hidden payers. You can promote and demote hidden payers only within the group of hidden payers. Note: If you attempt to promote the hidden payers above the unhidden payers, then a warning message appears stating the restriction. Hide a Payer

The payers hidden at the Payers master level in File Maintenance can now be hidden at the person/patient level for encounters in NextGen® Enterprise PM. This helps you associate only unhidden payers with encounters and avoid billing errors. To hide a payer, select the payer from the list, select open menu , and then select Hide. A message appears asking you to confirm if the payer should be hidden. Select Yes. The Hide Payer window opens showing the number of person/patient records associated with the payer. The Hide Payer window provides the following options: Yes: To hide the payer in the payer master record in File Maintenance and on the associated person/patient records in NextGen® Enterprise PM.
