Set Up a Default Sort Order for Printing

Access File Maintenance. Select System Master Files, then PM, and then either Forms or Label Templates. The Forms List or Label Templates List window appears. From the list, double-click to open the desired Form or Label Template. The Form Design or Label Design window appears. From the design toolbar, select the Template Sorting Preference button. The Template Sorting Preference window appears. All data fields included on the form or label are listed in the Available Data Fields section on the left. From the Available Data Fields list, select a data field to be used in the default sort order for printing. Select the Add button to move the data field to the Selected Data Fields section on the right. Repeat steps 6 and 7 to add up to four additional data fields to the default sort. Note: A maximum of 5 data fields can be selected for the default sort. Form and Label Templates Printing Sort Order

You can specify the form fields that you want to use to sort a form or label template based on the form fields used to create the form and label template. When you set up the form fields that you want to use to sort the forms or labels by, the form or label templates automatically display in that sort order when previewing or printing in batch mode. Note: You can select a maximum of five form fields for the printing sort order criteria. If you attempt to select more than five form fields, a window displays to remind you. Change the Default Sort Order when Printing in Batch Mode

Batch mode printing in NextGen® Enterprise PM allows you to change the default sort order of the data fields selected in the Form and Label Template Master Files according to your preference. Printing in batch mode from Encounters Lookup is used to demonstrate the setup, which applies to both form and label templates. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. From the main menu, select Tasks > Lookup > Encounters or from the main toolbar, select Encounter "". In the Encounter Lookup window, enter the appropriate criteria and select Find. In the search results, select the checkboxes for the appropriate patient records. After selecting the records, right-click and select Print > Forms. In the Print Forms window, select the applicable form template from the Template drop-down list. Select Template Sorting, and then the Open Record "" button.
