Set up General Case Information

The General tab of the Case Management window is where you enter the case details and assign related cases. Create a new case in PM. Select one of the following options in the Case Status field: Open Closed Pending Reopened Note: In NextGen® Enterprise PM, you cannot close cases created in NextGen® Enterprise EHR and have open clinical encounters. A message displays indicating that the case contains unlocked clinical encounters. You must lock encounters and child encounters before closing the case. Select Patient Type. Enter Case Description. Enter the Effective Date, Expiration Date, Onset Date, and Onset Time. Select Occurrence Code. Select State. Enter Same/Similar Date for the Occurrence. Select the Referring Provider. If necessary, select the search button to access the Provider Lookup window. If available, select Case Diagnosis and/or Case Procedure. If necessary, add a Case Contact. If necessary, select Related Cases. Select Available Encounters and set up Case or Encounter Sync

You can associate a case with an existing Encounter in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from Patient Lookup window. On the Encounter History tab, select an encounter. Select Encounter Options, and then select Properties. The Encounter Maintenance window opens. Select open menu , and then select Open Existing Cases. The Select Case window opens. Select a Case to associate the selected Encounter with or select New to create a new case to be associated with the selected Encounter. The Case Information window opens. Select Yes. Select OK. The Case Management functionality enables users of the NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Enterprise PM applications to group patient encounters based on common data into cases. Cases may include encounter details such as, workers' compensation, occupational health (non-injury), ambulatory care, group health PT. Prerequisites to Associate a Program to an Encounter

You can associate a program to an encounter in NextGen® Enterprise EHR when creating an encounter. After you associate a program to an encounter, the status in NextGen Enterprise PM > Patient’s Chart > Encounters > Encounter Information appears as In Progress, which allows NextGen Enterprise PM users to calculate revenues. To view the list of programs to associate when creating an encounter, you must first create the list of programs and ensure the following in File Maintenance: Create at least one program in File Maintenance > System > Programs master file. Select Enable Programs from File Maintenance > Master Files > System > Practices > Preferences > Programs. Select Default all new encounters to are in progress from File Maintenance > Master Files > System > Practices > Preferences > Encounters and select at least one program from the Limit to Valid Programs list.
