Add or Modify Provider Credentials
- Access the Modify Provider Information window for a provider.
- Select the Credentialing tab.
The appearance of the tab is based on the setting for the Enable Provider Credential Billing option in Enterprise Preferences > General.If the option is enabled, you cannot delete credentials because they are used for billing purposes, but you can hide them if needed. From the Open Menu button, a Hide or Un-Hide option is available, a Hide Provider Credential check box is available, an Include Hidden Items check box is available, and the Hide
icon displays for hidden credentials. In addition, a Primary Credentials section is available at the bottom of the tab. For more information, see Primary Credentials.
If the option is not enabled, you can delete credentials if needed because they are not used for billing purposes. From the Open Menu button, a Delete option is available, the Hide Provider Credential and Include Hidden Items check boxes are not available, and the Hideicon does not display.
- In the Credentialing section, do one of the following:
- To add a credential, select Open Menu
and select New.
- To modify a credential, select the item from the list, and then select Open Menu and select Open.
The Credentialing window opens.The appearance of the window is based on the setting for the Enable Provider Credential Billing option in Enterprise Preferences > General.
If the option is enabled, the Number field is not required, and a Hide check box is available.If the option is not enabled, the Number field is required, and the Hide check box is not available. - To add a credential, select Open Menu
- In the Effective Date field, enter the date the credential becomes effective. This field is required, and the date must be earlier than the expiration date.
- In the Expiration Date field, enter the date the credential expires. This field is required, and the date must be later than the effective date.
- In the Credentialing Type field, select a credential from the list. This field is required.
Note: The items available for selection are from the Credentialing master list in File Maintenance.
- In the Number field, enter the license or certification number for the credential. This field is required when the Enable Provider Credential Billing option is not enabled in Enterprise Preferences > General.
- In the Notes field, enter additional free-text information about the credential.
- To save changes and close the window, select OK.
The credential displays in the Credentialing list.
