Primary Credential Conflicts and Messages

You can enter multiple Primary Credentials for a provider on the Credentialing tab. However, there can only be one primary credential in effect at a time. When you enter a primary credential with an effective or expiration date that overlaps with another, the following prompt displays: Effective/Expiration dates overlap with another Primary Credential. Primary Credential Conflict/Message 1 A provider's Primary Credential, in combination with another credential, can be used in the configuration of the Claim Modifiers Library to add a charge-level modifier to claims during the billing process in NextGen® Enterprise PM. The Claim Modifiers Library adds the modifier only if the primary credential is defined in both the Credentialing and Primary Credentials sections of the Credentialing tab. Hide Primary Credentials

A provider's primary credential can be hidden if needed, but not deleted. Access the Modify Provider Information window for a provider. Select the Credentialing tab. Primary Credentials for the provider are listed in the bottom section of the tab. To hide a primary credential, do one of the following: Select the credential from the list, and then select the Hide Primary Credential check box. Select the credential from the list, and then select Open Menu and select Hide. The following prompt displays: Confirm hide of [Credential Name]? To hide the primary credential, select Yes. The primary credential is hidden and removed from the list. To display hidden primary credentials, select the Include Hidden Primary Credentials check box. Access the Modify Provider Information window for a provider. Select the Credentialing tab. Credentials for the provider are listed in the top section of the tab and Primary Credentials are listed in the bottom section of the tab. Hover over the Information icon on the right to view tool tip information for this section. Note: The Primary Credentials section appears only when the Enable Provider Credential Billing options is enabled in Enterprise Preferences > General. In the Primary Credentials section, do one of the following: To add a primary credential, select Open Menu and select New. To modify a primary credential, select the item from the list, and then select Open Menu and select Open. The Primary Credentials window opens. In the Effective Date field, enter the date the primary credential becomes effective. This field is required, and the date must be earlier than the expiration date. The appearance of the tab is based on the setting for the Enable Provider Credential Billing option in Enterprise Preferences > General. If the option is enabled, you cannot delete credentials because they are used for billing purposes, but you can hide them if needed. From the Open Menu button, a Hide or Un-Hide option is available, a Hide Provider Credential check box is available, an Include Hidden Items check box is available, and the Hide icon displays for hidden credentials. In addition, a Primary Credentials section is available at the bottom of the tab. For more information, see Primary Credentials. If the option is not enabled, you can delete credentials if needed because they are not used for billing purposes. Credentialing Tab

The Credentialing tab in the Location and Provider master files enable you to track the credentials, such as certificates and licenses, of your locations and providers. You can report on credentialing for Locations in the Location master file report by selecting credentialing-related columns. You can also report on Providers in the Provider With Credentialing report on the Providers master file. Create the credentials in the Credentialing master list. Open the appropriate location or provider master file, and then select the Credentialing tab. Do one of the following: To add a new credential, select Open Menu, and then select New. To modify a credential, select it in the list, select Open Menu, and then select Open. The Credentialing window opens. In the Effective Date field, enter the date that the credential becomes effective. In the Expiration Date field, enter the date that the credential expires.
