Map a Pharmacy to an ePrescribing Pharmacy

Some automatic pharmacy mapping occurs as part of the pharmacy download process to create a link between the pharmacy listed in the master file and the ePrescribing pharmacy. By default, the system checks the pharmacy NCPD ID number and fax number. If there is a downloaded Surescripts pharmacy that could not be matched with a pharmacy in the Pharmacies master file, you must manually map the pharmacy. The method allows you to map only one pharmacy at a time. CAUTION: Be aware that mapping pharmacies updates the following information: NCPDP ID, Surescripts Enroll Date, Surescripts Unenroll Date, Surescripts Partner Account, Fax information, Retail Service Level, and Store Number. All manually mapped pharmacies retain the information provided by the Surescripts network. Note: All of the available mail order pharmacies are inserted into your NextGen database during the Formulary Load process. Set Up a Pharmacy

In File Maintenance, open the Pharmacies master file. The Pharmacies List window opens. The Mapped column displays a check mark for each pharmacy linked to an ePrescribing pharmacy. Do one of the following: To add a new item, select Open Menu and then select New. To modify an item, select the item in the list, select Open Menu and then select Open. You can also double-click to open the item. In the Pharmacy field, enter the full name of the pharmacy. Note: To comply with the latest National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) script standards, the Pharmacy field in the Pharmacy master file has been updated to accommodate up to 70 characters. Fill in the applicable fields as per the table: Field Description Store Number Address/ City/ State/ Zip/ Country/ County The first space is for street number and name. The second space is for other address details, such as suite numer. If the ZIP code table is set up, you can enter the ZIP code and the city, state, country are automatic

View the Pharmacy ePrescribing Service Level

The retail service levels for pharmacies are obtained from Surescripts. Because the pharmacy information is downloaded, you cannot change the settings. In File Maintenance, from Master Files > System, select Pharmacies. On the Pharmacies List window, double-click a pharmacy. The Modify Pharmacy Information window opens. Select the ePrescribing tab. If the pharmacy is already mapped to an ePrescribing pharmacy, this tab displays the ePrescribing pharmacy and retail service level details. If the pharmacy participates in the Surescripts retail pharmacy network, the Retail Service Level section indicates which actions the pharmacy can take with electronic prescriptions. Pharmacies

The Pharmacies master file provides a complete list of all pharmacies defined by the user and that have been mapped to retail pharmacies in the Surescripts network. The information in this master file enables the setup, faxing, and electronic submission of prescriptions directly from NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Note: Pharmacies that are hidden cannot be used for ePrescribing. If you attempt to hide a pharmacy that is being used as the preferred pharmacy for one or more patients, a caution message alerts you of the number of patients associated with the pharmacy. If you hide the pharmacy, it is not removed from the patient records. Instead, prescribers will be prompted to select another pharmacy. Pharmacy Service Level

A pharmacy that participates in the Surescripts retail pharmacy network can perform actions depending on the retail service levels settings of the pharmacy. The available service levels are as follows: Rx Fill sends prescription fill statuses to the provider. Rx Fill Indicator Change changes the RxFill notifications for a medication and send an update response back to the enrolled pharmacy. Rx Change sends a request to change the prescription to the provider. Refill Request sends a refill request to the provider. New Rx sends a new prescription request to the pharmacy. ePCS support electronic prescriptions for controlled substances. Cancel Rx receives prescription cancellation requests from the provider. Provider Service Level

A provider who is enrolled with the Surescripts retail or mail-order pharmacy networks can perform certain actions only if the following applicable service levels are selected: New Rx sends a new Rx request to the pharmacy. Note: This service level is always enabled for enrolled providers. The Practice Rights in System Administrator must be set to Yes. Refill Request receives refill requests from pharmacies. Medication History receives a patient's entire medication history from Surescripts. Eligibility checks patient's eligibility. Rx Change receives a request from a pharmacy to change a prescription. Rx Fill receives prescription fill statuses from pharmacies that support the RxFill transaction. Rx Fill Indicator Change changes the RxFill notifications for a medication and send an update response back to the enrolled pharmacy.
