Create Your First Enterprise

Your installation includes a default enterprise that you use to log in to File Maintenance for the first time. After you log in with the default, you can create your first enterprise. After you create this new enterprise and set up your rights, you are no longer required to log in under the default to create additional enterprises. CAUTION: Contact NextGen Healthcare Support before you attempt to create additional enterprises. Log on to File Maintenance. Note: Until you create additional enterprises, you can only select Default Practice and Default Enterprise in the login window. The NextGen File Maintenance window opens. Under Master Files, select System > Enterprises. The Enterprises List window opens. Create the enterprise that you want to add a new practice to. After you create your enterprise, you can create practices within the enterprise. Parent topic: Enterprises

Create a Practice in the Enterprise You Are Logged Into

When you are logged into an enterprise in File Maintenance, you can create or modify any practice within that enterprise. Access File Maintenance, and select Master Files > System. Select the Practices icon. The Practices List Access window opens. Select the open menu button and then select New. The Practice Defaults tab on the Add Practice Information window opens. Enter the practice information. Select OK. The new practice does not display in the Practices List because you do not have access to it. In the System Administrator application, you must add a group to the practice and you must be a member of the group. Parent topic: Practices Master File

Create a Practice in a Specific Enterprise

Use the following steps when you want to create: Your first practice within an enterprise that you have already created. A new practice in an enterprise that you are NOT logged into. Log on to File Maintenance. The File Maintenance window opens. In the upper left corner of the File Maintenance window, select the enterprise that you want to add a new practice to. Under Master Files, select System. If the enterprise you selected has no practices in it yet, the Master Files - System list only displays the Enterprise and Practices master files icons. Select the Practices icon. The Practices List Access window opens. Select the Open Menu button and then select New. The Practice Defaults tab on the Add Practice Information window opens. Enter the practice information. Select OK. The new practice does not display in the Practices List because you do not have access to it. Change NextGen® Document Management Enterprise and Practice

You can change the enterprise and practice that NextGen® Document Management accesses. Open NextGen® Document Management. On the toolbar, select Tasks, and then select Change Practice. The Practice Change window opens. Select either a new enterprise, a new practice, or both. The practices available depend on the enterprise you select. Select OK. Assign Quick File Configurations to Practices

Before you begin In Enterprise Preferences, you must activate Practice access for Quick File Configurations. Open File Maintenance. In Master Files, select System, and then select Quick File Configurations. The Quick File Configurations List window opens. Right-click the configuration in the list that you want to assign, and then select Practice Access. The Quick File Master Access by Practice window opens. Select the practices that you want to have access to the Quick File configuration. To select all the practices, select the Practice option. Select OK. Activate and Assign a Payer to a Practice

When you select Practice access for payer master file, the payers can be defined at the practice level, and you can restrict which practices have access to them. After all the practices have been set up with or without access to the selected payer, specific areas in the application where that practice, depending on their access, will or will not see the payer: File Maintenance The Group Information window in File Maintenance NextGen® Enterprise PM The Payer Lookup window The Eligibility Referral Lookup window The Claim Request Lookup window The Add/Modify Provider Information window The following areas of the application show all the payers in the enterprise regardless of the practice's access settings: Reports Service Item Library Maintenance Activate Practice Access to the Payer Master File Assign a Practice to a Payer You can assign access to practices for a payer.
