Set Up Tasks for Auto Completion

You can set up tasks to be automatically completed based on selecting an action from the list. Tasks can be set up for auto completion regardless of whether they are manually or automatically created. Auto-completion occurs when the system recognizes that the desired results related to the completion of the task have been met. Upon auto-completion, the tasks are marked with the completion date and either the default or override completion reason.

To set up a task to be automatically completed, perform the following steps:

  1. Open or set up new ttask types.
  2. Select the Auto Completion tab.
  3. Enter a description of the task in the Task Type field. This field is required.
  4. In the Source Type field, select a source type. This field is required.
    A list of task action descriptions for that source type display in the Action column. the items in the list represent events that occur in the application that may be selected to automatically compltete a task.
  5. If you want to assign a value to the task for reporting purposes, select the up and down arrows in the Task Value field. The higher the number, the more important the task is. This number ranks all of the tasks by source type. Therefore, if you have three tasks with a source type of encounter and they have task values of 1, 5, and 10, the task with a task value of 10 is more important than the tasks with values of 1 and 5.
  6. In the Default Completion Reason for all selected actions field, select the completion reason to use for all the completion actions that you activate.
  7. Select an Action by selecting in the Activate column to the left of the action.
    A green check mark displays.
  8. Right-click in the Action column to enter a value, if applicable.
  9. If you want the action to use a different completion reason the default reason selected for the task, right-click in the Override Completion Reason field in the action's row and select Open.
    The Task Type Options dialog box displays.
  10. Select a task completion reason code to override the default completion reason that the task is assigned to.
  11. Scroll to the Processed column (the last column on the right) to determine if the task type is updated nightly or immediately.
  12. Select OK.
    A task is completed each time the conditions specified in the Action column occur.
