Add a Patient's Picture to a Form or Label

The application enables you to add a patient's picture to a form or label through Form Templates and Label Templates. After you add the picture to the template, you can print the forms and labels with the picture in NextGen® Enterprise PM. Open File Maintenance. Select System Master Files, then PM, and then either Forms or Label template. The Forms List or Label Templates List window opens. Select the template to which you want to add the picture. Select Open Menu , then select Open. If you want to create a new template, see Creating Forms or Creating Label Templates. The Form Design or Label Design window opens. Select Insert Data Field on the form/label toolbar. The NextGen Data Repository window opens. Double-click Patient Information. A list of patient information fields displays beneath it. Select the Patient Picture data field and drag the item from the list and drop it on the template in the location where you want the picture to print. The data field is inserted in the template

Insert Data Fields in Form and Label Templates

When you design forms and labels, you can use the NextGen Data Repository window to select and place the data fields that you want displayed when you print your custom designed forms or labels. To insert data fields in a form or label template: Open the template in File Maintenance. In the Form Design window, select Insert Data Field . The NextGen Data Repository window opens. Double click on the applicable icon to display the data fields for that icon. Insert a data field in one of two ways: Select and drag the data field onto the Form Design window and release the mouse button when you have positioned the data field where you want it placed. If you want to adjust its position on the form, select and drag it again. Select an item in the list, and then select Add. Use any of the following options to design the fields: To select more than one field, select the Shift key while you select the fields. To align multiple fields, select the fields. Access File Maintenance. Select System Master Files, then PM, and then either Forms or Label Templates. The Forms List or Label Templates List window appears. From the list, double-click to open the desired Form or Label Template. The Form Design or Label Design window appears. From the design toolbar, select the Template Sorting Preference button. The Template Sorting Preference window appears. All data fields included on the form or label are listed in the Available Data Fields section on the left. From the Available Data Fields list, select a data field to be used in the default sort order for printing. Select the Add button to move the data field to the Selected Data Fields section on the right. Repeat steps 6 and 7 to add up to four additional data fields to the default sort. Set General Properties for Multiple Fields

You can set certain properties at the same time for multiple fields of the same or different field type on the General Field Properties window. Do one of the following: Select the first field, and select CTRL as you select the other fields. When all the fields are selected, right-click, and then select Properties from the shortcut menu. Select SHIFT as you select each field, and from the View menu, select Properties. The General Field Properties window opens. You can set the following properties depending on applicability to the selected field types: To hide the field when the template is opened, select the Hidden check box. To enable the label through tabbing, select the Tab Stop check box. To set the size manually, select the Auto Size check box. Configure Barcode Labels

You can configure the settings that your barcode printer uses while printing barcode labels using the Barcode Label Configuration master file. For more information on barcode labels, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Barcode Label Reference Guide for NextGen® Optical Management. In File Maintenance, from the Master Files > Optical Management list, select Barcode Label Configuration. The Barcode Label Configuration List window opens. From the list, do one of the following: To add a new item, select the open menu button and select New. To modify an item, double-click the item to open it. The Barcode Label Configuration window opens. On the Label Defaults tab, complete the following fields: In Name, enter a name for the configuration. In Heat Level, select a setting.
