Resources Practice Preferences

Use the Resources Practice Preferences to set up the following:

  • If you access the Patient Education Browser from within NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, set whether the system automatically saves internal patient education documents and whether they are sent to NextGen® PxP Portal. These preferences enhance patient triggers in NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine.
    • Internal Document to Save to Encounter Automatically preference – Allows a specified Internal Patient Education document to save automatically to the encounter.
    • Internal Document to Save to Encounter and Send to Patient Portal Automatically – Allows a specified Internal Patient Education document to automatically be sent to Patient Portal only when the document is saved to the encounter.
  • References for links for use in the following modules: Diagnosis & Problem, Procedure, Medication Allergy, Medication, and Order Module - Lab Results. Each module lists the same types of resources under Labels: External Patient Education, Clinical Decision Support, and External Provider Reference. Each label accommodates the needed URL and whether the label is Info Button-compliant. If it is not Info Button-compliant, the Info Button field is blank. External Provider Reference can be HL7 Info Button-compliant, but it is not required to be compliant.
When you set up the external resources, you must adhere to the following parameters:
  • Base URL with a maximum of 256 characters
  • Parameterized URL with a maximum of 1024 characters

Caution: Because you are responsible for setting up the URLs for your practice, NextGen Healthcare does not have prior knowledge of the code system expected by the receiving website. If an unsupported code is sent to the selected URL, the URL will fail and the website will return an error message.
