Setting up Electronic Signatures

The Electronic Signature feature in the Forms Enhanced master file enables you to add multiple System Esignature data fields to forms so that you can capture electronic signatures in NextGen® Enterprise PM. You can also modify the Esignature Image size, add an Esignature Tag, and modify or clear an Esignature Tag. Capture Electronic Signatures

You can capture electronic signatures on an enhanced form using an electronic signature pad. On the Print Forms window, Forms Enhanced tab, select a form that you want to sign and print. In the Copies section, enter the number of copies you want to sign and print. Select Preview. The form opens displaying the SIGN THIS DOCUMENT button above the form. Note: The SIGN THIS DOCUMENT button appears only if you have installed and configured an electronic signature pad and the form contains a System Esignature data field. Select SIGN THIS DOCUMENT. The NextGen PM Electronic Signature window appears. In the Esignature Tags panel, select an Esignature to sign. For example, Esignature 1 under the Patient esignature tag. Select Begin Capture to enable the electronic signature pad and activate the Capture Window section. If you are using an IntegriSign electronic signature pad, then a window opens displaying the Signer Name. You can sign and select OK to proceed. Sign on the electronic signature p

Sign Documents Electronically

Before you begin You must select the Single click signature option and set up signature preferences in the User Preferences window. After a document is filed, you can add an electronic signature to it. The application uses the name of the logged on user for the signature and the date and time in NextGen® Document Management. Note: After you add a provider signature to a document, the signature cannot be removed. Open NextGen® Document Management. On the toolbar, select Search, and then search for the documents or images. The Matching Records grid displays the list of patients who are associated with images that match your search results. Double-click a patient record to open its associated images in the Search Results For: window, and then double-click the image you want to view. NextGen PM Electronic Signature Window - Field Descriptions

The following table describes the fields of the NextGen PM Electronic Signature window. Field Description Esignature Tags panel Includes Esignature Tags and System Esignature data fields under each tag. For example, if the Patient Esignature Tag appears twice in a form, then the Esignature Tags panel displays the tag name, which is Patient, and the number of times the tag appears as Esignature 1 and Esignature 2 under Patient. If you do not assign an Esignature Tag to an Esignature data field in File Maintenance, then then system automatically assigns a tag as Default and displays as Default 1, Default 2 and so on. Capture Window section Begin Capture Begins capturing electronic signatures and activates other fields in the Capture Window section. Clear/Restart Clears the electronic signature. Document the Patient's Height

You can document the height of a patient in inches or in feet using the Vital Signs template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open a patient's record, and then open an encounter. On Top Toolbar, select Templates . The Select Template window opens. Open the Intake template. Expand the Vital Signs panel. Select Add. The age-specific vital signs template opens. In Height/length measurements, do one of the following: To enter the current day's data, fill the ft, in, or cm fields within the 1 – 9.99 ft, 12 – 119.88 in, or 30.48 – 304.49 cm range, respectively. To enter previously documented data, select the Carried forward option. If you enter the height in either the ft, cm, or in field, the NextGen® Enterprise EHR fills values in the other fields automatically. Note: A message appears if the value entered is not within the range. Adult Vital Sign Indicate the position of the patient when the height is measured. Insert a Label Field

Drag the Label icon from the Fields toolbar to the template design area where you want to place it. The Insert a Label window opens. Note: The label name is automatically assigned in the Name box. You can enter a name of your choice. If necessary, select a mask from the Mask list. Enter the text to appear on the label in the Caption window. Note: Instead of entering the caption here, you can use in-place caption editing to enter the caption directly in the field after you have created it. To reposition and resize the field on the template, do the following: Enter the appropriate numeric values to replace the current vertical and horizontal coordinates displayed in the Position boxes. Enter the appropriate numeric values to replace the current dimensions displayed in the Size boxes.
